I think you will love them. One last thing as you can see in the photos the posts are 1/3 larger diameter than the stock ESP's. The retaining nut is thinner to allow for this. They make the stock (when I look at my D-5 in comparison) look puny. I press the retaining nut into place using my fingers/hand before I put the tuner in place. Don't worry, the nut will still turn and tighten onto the Tuner. I think those black's will look outstanding! Either one Chromes or blacks look good but the Chromes I purchased a Chrome bridge and put some Ebony knobs from Stewmac.com on the pots. They are really nice looking but found out you just barely tighten until you hear just a small "Creque" sound or you will crack them. They hold on well, look great, the one just had a hairline fracture that I was able to open slightly with a blade and put some tightbond wood glue in and clamped it shut. Barely noticable but I am going to order a couple extras as spares. Only slightly over $3 a piece

Oh, I had my eyes on the ebony knobs as well! I always wondered how they would look on the B-5E, as the wings are ebony as well... I just might get them now :) By the way have you replaced the Sung IL bridge on the bass?

Yes, with this one only because I wanted Chrome tuners etc: Invalid Link Removed

String spacing is .670 which is more like the stock bridge. There is just a little less amount of adjustment of the saddles forward and backward than the stock but doesn't seem to be a big issue so far.

Here is another possibility but the string spacing is wider as far as I can tell by their 3.0" from centerline of 2 outer strings: (.750???) [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I tried the Hipshot but the string through the body holes were at the back end of the bridge with the screw holes in front which would not work. The bridge I have works beautifully and looks good.

That chrome bridge looks really good! I just might get it in black. I'm a sucker for all black hardware (courtesy of the stealth Bongo). By the way, I had that Carvin bridge on a Carvin PB5. By my measurements, they were 19mm. How well do you think the 19mm spacing will fit the fingerboard on the B-5E? I might have to replace the nut, right?

I did not have to change the nut and see no reason to. However the total spacing of the Carvin from B to G strings may prove too wide for the neck width at the aft end of the fretboard but you can try it. The bridge I have is a much better fit.

Just got it yesterday via a real good deal from MF, they must have wanted to clear some older stuff out. LTD B-334.

Thanks guys. Wasn't in love with the color by the picture (it looked alot lighter) but didn't hate it either, was a good deal and I like the look after all.

It has a little bit of fret sprout on the bottom of the neck. I guess I should expect it for a cheaper instrument. I would take my chances with a replacement if they had anymore in stock. I can be ocd about such things but I have time to figure out if I can deal with it.

Hi Sidewinder7,

It's the fret-sprout season, it happens to nearly all instruments their first winter. The wood dries, shrinking slightly. This causes the fret ends to overhang.

A little sandpaper or file on the tips should clear it right up.

Sidewinder, I got a fret end dressing file for $12 to take care of fret sprout without damaging the wood. This makes quick easy work out of it and no need to put tape on the wood either. The end is rounded and smooth to keep it from marring the wood finish.
