I finally got around to finishing my B206SM ! I now have the black Gotoh tuners along with the 17mm Hipshot bridge and an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. I installed the custom spaced Nordstrand Big Singles a while ago in anticipation of the Hipshot A bridge which allows me to widen the spacing from side-to-side to match the pickup's new magnet sensing area. The playability and sound of this bass is more than I could have expected. In my opinion, ESP packed more value into this bass than they had to ! What a bargain ! Wow! Thos pickups are way too far to the bridge and to the neck IMO :eek: I think the neck pickup 1 inch closer to the middle of the body and the bridge pickup half an inch more to the middle of the body would have been a bit better IMO.

Also, a P/J pickup configuration for a 6 stringer? :eyebrow: Big fail.

So.... you have played and or heard the new models to be able to provide an informed opinion?

We were really impressed with what we saw from ESP at the NAMM Show. In fact, we gave them a Bass Gear Magazine Best of Show Award for the Stream line of basses.

Great videos, thanks for posting those Tom. If the price point is right, they are going sell a lot of those RB models. I'd probably buy one in a 5 string. I'm very curious to see what they will be. LTD, even though they are the "budget" line, can vary greatly in price.

Hey TBL,

Did you get the Bart rewired, and did it help?

The RB-100X basses are listed on MusiciansFriend and Music 123.

RB-1004 = $1199

RB-1005 = $1249

RB-1006 = $1299

This is the same ballpark as the B-100X series they are replacing, except for being bolt-on, rather than neckthrough.

I definitely want to hear these. I'm not a 6-string player, but I think a 6-string P is a cool idea.

I do like the slant toward the neck the J pickups have. Should help from it getting two twangy.

No. I've pretty much given up.

From the last pic I followed this diagram. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The pic is below. The only change I made since last time was soldering the left side of the grey wire to the top of the jazz pot, like the diagram shows(tone knob to jazz pot). But, there is the very small copper wire (of the grey one right in the middle) that is sticking out to the right and I don't know where to put that. Now I don't even have any sound at all.

I almost don't even care any more. I am either going to order brand new pots and try to re-do the whole thing from scratch on my own, or take it to a local pro. I'm beyond frustrated.

There is only one wire that comes from the pickup. It has a braided metal outside and clear coated copper wire inside it. I connected the braided to the top of the pot and the copper one to the middle post.

The GREY one is the one that got fouled up. That's why I keep asking about it.

Ok that's exactly what I needed.

Here's the Bartolini wiring diagram: Invalid Link Removed

So if it's then when mixed, I'd think this is a phase issue. If that's the case, you just need to swap the two pickup wires.

Put the one currently going to the case on the pot leg and vica versa.

That ought to do it.

OK - I'll try it. Otherwise I'm getting new pots and starting from scratch. I'm stubborn like that.

The letter (which may not look anything like the font that the numbers are in and there is a space beteen it, and the numbers) will tell you where it was made. In my case it was an "I" standing for Indonesia.

The first two numbers tell you what year it was made. The rest apparently are just the number of basses in production of that model.

Staccato. I did it over a year ago so I don't really remember. I used 3 different grits though. I was told by a guitar tech that it still had sealer on it so I never refinished it. The wood has held up after tons of shows pouring sweat, so I'm guessing it's still sealed. Hah.
