Non-Glarry content alert! But Fretless maple content, and who doesn’t like that?!

Finished putting together my fretless P/J tonight. ‘78ish Fender fretless precision neck. Squier Vintage Modified body. G&L SB-1 pickup and a DiMarzio Model J bridge pickup. Wired with a 4 way rotary switch for neck/series/parallel/bridge. Pretty cool!

And only 7lb 10oz!

This was a bass from seller qianlei_7541. I did not open the dispute, I had planned on waiting until Friday. It was all done by eBay.

The basses from robhe8875 still sit with order confirmation, but no shipping info. No response to my inquiry. I will open a dispute on Thursday (one week from order) if the status hasn't changed.

I'm not sure if you've had one in your hands, but I'd say even the $60 to 70 -ish ones (from reputable ebayers) are worth the price. I paid $90 directly to Glarry for mine and I'm completely happy with my Ibanez clone bass. It did take a bit of setup, though.

No, the only sub $100 bass that I currently own is a Harley Benton PB-50, which now has a modified headstock. I wanted to give it that '50s retro P Bass look, which actually turned out ok. Also, other than the weight and the single-coil hum, I really like the bass and the way it plays.

This has been my exact experience as well, but on the $17 guitar. I ordered a $35 bass from him and it shipped in a timely fashion.

WOW, thank you so much for the kind offer! I really appreciate your generosity, but I just purchased a Mike Dirnt Squier that I think I'll be modifying with a J neck and possibly changing the color. I'll have to wait and see how the bass looks when it arrives. Again, thank you so much for the generous offer! It is greatly appreciated!

I have that same bass and love it. I wish it was a bit lighter, but sounds great! I too did the Tele headstock, replaced the pickup with a Lindy Fralin, and it currently has Jamerson Labella flats on it. Pic below is with Fender flats. Since this pic, I also added the bridge ashtray too.

9+lbs plus Jamerson Flats=the need for strong hands!. With the left pinky issue and the right wrist issue, I haven’t enjoyed it much lately.

But I have enjoyed my Hofner Beatle Bass!

update- contacted eBay directly. They were not willing to do anything until the "delivery date." I will wait, patiently, then close my eBay account. Amazing they’re willing to lose a 100% feedback member since 2004 over this.

my delivery date is between 3/12 and 4/6. so i've got a month to see what happens...i'm just going to let it sort out. it ain't over 'til it's over. but i understand the concern.

it would be a bummer to have to deal with disappointment after getting so 'high' on the possibilities. i'm sure that ebay will make it right if the goods aren't delivered. they've always settled any dispute i've been a part of based on the 'facts' and the records/communications between buyer and seller. the whole thing is a painintheass but they have always made things right, IME. ebay has always 'made me whole' if the buyer or especially the seller was too flaky about the terms.

also, FWIW: our maple necks came from a chinese province (Hengshui city, Hebei province) which is in the middle of some serious viral . we don't know where the 'cheapest of all cheapies' are coming from, or whether those supply chains have been affected, and to what degree, yada yada.

i'm in no position --- yet --- to do anything but "do nothing and see what happens." but i know you had some stuff on that order, jawamac. hang in if you can.

I was treated very poorly by eBay customer service (supervisor hung up on me). I myself have also never had an issue with eBay, but hanging up on a concerned client is probably not in their S.O.P. So, when I do not get my bass guitars by the promised delivery date, I will promptly file a complaint and close my account. I only buy bass crap and vinyl records now from there, so Amazon and Discogs can have all my business.

I’ve been listening to some free jazz tonight. Not worth posting a pic, cause it’s not a majorities cup of tea-haha! I hooked up my old tube preamp and rocking with my AKG headphones! ....or maybe I will post a pic....lol

Listening to the 2 previous live Vanguards of COLTRANE are excellent! This one includes some unreleased material ( a lot of free jazz), which is a very acquired taste. If you want to listen to Coltrane’s best (my opinion) free jazz album, check out Ascension. But I warn you, it’s a hard sale if you’re not an avid jazz listener.
