Here it is: recently scored off CL. Gorgeous metallic blue, MIJ, and in great shape. The more I play it the better I like it. It's actually the second Fernandes I've owned - the other one was a jazz copy that (like a fool) I traded away. This one isn't going anywhere.

I'd like to add myself to the ranks of the exclusive Fernandes owner's club! I got mine back in '88. It was directly from Fernandes in Japan, and had been given to Graham Oliver from Saxon, who gave it to me. We were working on an album together at the time and I went on to play on his solo album and tour as part of the embryonic Oliver/Dawson Saxon. Saxon had an endorsement deal with the company at this time. Graham didn't know what model it was, and I've never found out, but I suspect its some version of the Revolver bass. It has a beautifully slim neck for a 5 string, though it's a bolt-on. It doesn't have a plate on the back, just 4 offset thru body screws to attach it. Active too. No serial numbers anywhere! I particularly like that the B and E strings go 'thru body' which really adds to the tone. One thing I do know - it's a fantastic bass and it's served me well and I'll never part with it!

Time plays tricks....haha! It was '95 when I got my Fernandes, not '88....because Saxon had 'Dogs of War' out, and that was around the time Graham had played on my album. Duh! So.....I reckon mine is a Gravity bass. It was around this time those sort of headstocks were introduced, and by the way, that link to the Fernandes catalogues is superb!.

I know what you mean. fernandes makes pretty cool bass guitars. I use to own a fernandes gravity 5x 5-string bass. it was a pretty cool sounding bass. lately I've been thinking about buying it again. I was thinking of buying it through the fernandes gutiars website. I might buy one.

i have a set for sale in the classifieds.
they are active pickups and were purchased new in the mid-eighties.
does anyone know of them? they are a great pickup set.

Finally got my hands on a Fernandes Tomahawk Headless Bass. It's the model with the graphite neck which originally retailed for 115,000 yen back in 1986 - that's around £932 sterling!! I got this one for £269 :-) It's been really well looked after, and sounds and plays amazing.

let's see if I can get it right the first time posting......
BIG fan of Fernandes basses since 1985 when I got my first The Function FJB120 via the agent for Fernandes in Europe back then, Ides Trading. I never stopped playing them and these basses have become part of my sound signature as heard on 12 or something albums. Let's see if I can upload a picture of these beauties/gems....

Couldn't resist this baby,looks to be an APB-90. Should be here next Tuesday....I think it's an APB-90. I'm a big Rocco fan for 20 years so this baby has been along time coming...Anyone know what the nut width is on the APB-90? Looks to be 1-5/8",but I:cool: can't find any specs online....Also,does an APB-90= a FRB-90? Looks like Fernandes renamed the bass for the American market? Can I have a number,please?

Thanks,Kev....Yeah,I have an ad in an old Guitar Player magazine where the model was called an ABP-90...label doesn't matter too much,it's a great bass. I had a Warwick Corvette Proline and this bass stands up to it in terms of build quality and tone. I like it a bit more because the width at the nut is 1/16" wider than the 'Wick,and the neck thickness is about the same...Now I want the Fernandes jj version of this bass...never seen one for sale...It's cool my 4 is the twinlet to your 5 string....got to look for a 5 now too...

Sold my Fernandes Jazz (pics above posts) back in April this year after I thought I was not going to play any more.
Yesterday I got myself a Fernandez Precision. It has a few dings on the body. One of the Tuners was slightly bent. Put new strings (DR. Hi Beams) on it, set it up and cleaned it last night. And now is ready to go.
Seems its lighter than the jazz. Will put pics later on :D
