Thanks. The 212 sounded fuller and more natural to my ears. However, all these are the older wooden cabs. I'm curious about the newest AT line of carbon fiber cabs -- AT212+ and AT212+Slim

Has anyone using heavier amp heads on top of the CF cabs found any indentations after the head has been sitting on the cab for a while?
I had to add a sheet of ply underneath my tubies (~25kg each) after finding indentations in the tolex from the amp feet.
Not sure if the CF is (or would be) affected, but you can certainly flex the CF with your finger which makes me wonder that if, over time, heavy amps could cause issues?

Also a good question for Natural Fiber cabs too. I suspect NF might be more susceptible to this issue?

The side by side comparison is very helpful to form opinion.
... and to lead me into temptation. ;)

I find that the 208 has very similiar sonic traits to the 212 Slim... another DIY project awaits

Well, I rushed through and did some side-by-side comparison testing today between these two cabs. I essentially recorded 7 different loops in a variety of styles on my looper, then ran them directly into two different amps and tested both cabs side-by-side and recorded all of it. Unfortunately the drop ceiling was rattling at any volume with the right frequencies so don't know how useful those recordings will be, I may have to redo the testing with a Shure 57 positioned right in front.

The tweeter definitely makes a difference for the type of music I'm playing, so I can say that my GR Bass AT212 is accompanying me to both of my outdoor gigs tonight and tomorrow. :thumbsup:

The Barefaced Super Twin can now be ordered with a tweeter. For those that prefer the more compact Super Twin over the Big Twin, I wonder how adding the tweeter would change the comparison with the AT212?

Yep, I know it can but unfortunately, this cab that I have does not have one, but it would definitely make a difference.

The way I look at it, at this point having both of these cabs in my possession, I think I am completely happy with the AT212 and I don't see a reason to swap it for anything else. I was curious about the Bearfaced super twin, now that I've had a chance to evaluate both of them. I think I'm good.

What made you go with the AT212 instead of the Slim model? I've wondered if the Slim's rear-firing ports might diminish low end in outdoor settings?

Mainly just availability when I tried to buy one, none were available in the US from any of the dealers so I found this one used about two hours away from me.

My criteria was that I needed a cab that was less than 14 inches deep to fit under the tonneau cover of my truck bed, and this is perfect and it's under 30 pounds.

I'm doing an outdoor gig right now we just finished soundcheck and this thing just sounds amazing. It's so darn clear and sparkly. :woot:

I got my AT410+ last week.

I've gigged it with 2 bands using the Berg HP2.
I've A/B'd it against an Ampeg 410he with both the Berg, and an Aggie TH500.

The cab is huge sounding, and clear AF. It's light and goes deep.

That said, I'm gonna put it up for sale.
