I have an old carvin power amp that it drives just fine. No idea about the input sensitivity for the amp though.

I tried to drive a powered monitor with the American, like I used to with a VT Bass, and it couldn't. Not clean at least. You had to have plenty of drive and level.
ok, so I pulled the trigger and pushed "buy it now" on the American, only $32, gas got the better of me, and a Hardwire CM2, just hope to god my wife doesn't check the account balance, she'll kill me!!
after listening to a demo of a johnk orange bass preamp, I've decided against the joyo orange juice, the amps sound great, but i don't dig their sim pedals,
the hardwire has a real bright cutting sound, that'll probably be my always on mild dirt, I'm gonna probably use the American for leads stacked with other 2, and/or use as alternate dirty tone, after listening to johnks sound lips i think it really shines with heavier tones. So i guess my second cheapy pedal board is inevitable considering that my main board is almost full

Holy crap! This American is the real deal. To be honest I was a bit skeptical but it easily knocked my VT Bass off my board. I don't think I want a Rusty Box anymore either. Yeah it's that good.
It is THAT good man. My dad who is not that much into effects (or so he says, he bought his Fender Mustang Floor multi effects all on his own...) loves it, he also loves the AC Tone, and the British Sound.
If you ever have a few bucks to spare, I highly recommend you test those out too. AT that price point, how can you not?
Can someone describe how the Joyo American differs from the VT bass in tone? I can't find any samples/YT vids on the American used with bass...
Well for starters, it doesn't have that annoying nasal mid honk that (in my opinion) ruins any dirt run thru it.
Is it more saturated? More tube-like? Smoother? I know it's difficult to descibe sound characteristics with words, but I can't try one myself and I can't find any sample and/or vid with it used with bass.
It's less poopy sounding. The VT muddies up the dirt and the American is more refined and tighter. Not a loose pile of garbage. I didn't realize how much I didn't like the VT until I plugged in the American.
They are comparable in the sense a Tech 21 blonde would compare to the vt. There are bass demo comparisons of those two. Yet the American is better than both of them.
Yeah you could buy 5 of em for the price of a Blonde! That's a lot of backups.
Or, buy 1 American, 1 AC Tone, 1 British Sound, 1 California, and 1 UD
I'm halfway there.

I checked the Tech 21 Blonde vs VT vid on youtube, blonde indeed sounds promissing.
The American is supposed to copy the Tech21 blonde right? My next question is what happened to the speaker sim button on the blonde, how's the American set to copy the blonde without the speaker sim button? Is it based on the older Blonde version without the sim button?

Personally I never liked the speaker sim on the VT. Always sounded awful IMO. I'm sure it's no big loss there on the Blonde as well. It copies the tone of the amp/preamp section. I don't see how a guitar speaker sim would be useful on bass anyway.
For 30 bucks it's worth it to try any of their pedals. Then to be blown away by them makes it that much better!
And "British Sound" is indeed a Marshall?
