Got mine yesterday. Only had a few mins with it at home, but it seems great! Low end is there, lots of range, chorus to crazy. Band-practice tonight. Also look forward to trying the American as a cleanish boost into my new Barbershop

I just got to play with my Classic Flanger for the first time this morning as I was away all weekend. I really dig the sounds, but mine seems to have some electrical noise - not while silent, but along with the signal while playing. I'll futz with the cables and such tonight, but that might be a disappointment. If I can hear it at bedroom levels, I'm slightly concerned if I go louder.

No such thing with mine, that I could tel. But I only just tried it, got so exited about the BS, i almost forgot it

Never an issue with mine, and I play it at all levels. Cables are likely the culprit.

I'd assume that too, but the same cables (all new EBS flats) haven't given me any issue with other pedals. like I said I will futz with them tonight and see what shakes out.

not liking the UD at all . . . i think i need a fuzz pedal of some kind. got some of the problem fixed by turning my volume knob (on the bass) up all of the way. i had almost no distortion when it was turned down to control the volume.

I expected it to be a lot dirtier/fuzzier . . . I will probably have to spend some more time with it. I think I went in expecting to have my face melted and that wasn't the case

The UD is an OCD clone with more Bass, it's basically an Overdrive If you wnat to melt faces, you need to stack a fuzz on top of it

Someone recommended a Black Russian, I'm going to have to check out a fuzz. I think that kind of noise is more of what I'm looking for.

and it's always a good sign if an overdrive cleans up when you turn the volume on your instrument down. It means it's responsive to the signal it gets and not just doing the same no matter what's being fed into it. No need to be disappointed by things doing what they're supposed to be doing

I need to get a Cali again. And maybe a British too. I handed my Cali off to a fellow low ender in need. I miss it. I still play my 'Merican at home and still dig it. I just never got around to trying the other flavored preamps.

Yes it's based on an OCD it's still a little different. There's more bass response than an OCD but it's neither a v2 or v3. It's like a hybrid of the two. There's also the often noticed "woolyness" in the UD compared to any OCD. The OCD is generally more detailed and clearer sounding. I don't know why this is but the OCD's sound better and cleaner.
I built my own OCD clone using Fuzzdog's kit and chose the "more bass switch" and it solves the OCD's usual thin bass output. It's way clearer than the UD...which is now kicked off my board

The OCD, which the UD is based on is a heavy Overdrive...which easily pushes into heavy clipping / Fuzz land. But, like all Overdrives, it has a dirt character which isn't like a buzzy fuzz...but is more dynamic and tube amp sounding (which is what an Overdrive is trying to emulate). The fact that the pedal is called "ultimate DRIVE" should hint that it's emulating a driven amp, not a fuzz pedal. Becuase it's dynamic, the amount of clipping is directly proportionate to the gain setting (the higher..the more clipping) and the amount of signal hitting the pedal. Low output pickups will lower the amount of possible gain...that's how the pedal works. If you want more gain / clipping from this pedal you will need to spank it with an active pre-amp / buffer / clean boost. With one of these, you should be able to totally saturate the UD and get some pretty extreme clipping. But it's grit will always have that "OCD" sound to it because of the TL082 opamp and the two 2n7000 transistors in there...interestingly there's no diodes in the clipping path...so it's all done with the opamp and trannys.

I have a DIY OCD pedal that I've built a blend into. It works really well with the gain up high but the blend very dry. It only worked well after I moved it 'downstream' of my ROG Ginger pedal - it was rubbish before it.

i still have my UD (can't seem to sell it for an american). i would (in theory) think that id like to get a big muff to pair with the UD -- or some other type of fuzz.

ideas/suggestions?
