I have a nano also. I didn't realize the Jr would fit under it. I think I am already sold on a Cioks DC5 though.
Now using my American with a LS-2 to keep some clean signal underneath the drive and I like it even more that way. I can crank more the drive while keeping good punch.
So I've gotten some time in with my Joyo ultimate and American. The joyo definitely loses some low end and benefited from a clean blend. Turns out it benefits even more with a blender/crossover combination. I run it slightly dirty which adds some hair to the signal, Gain (8:00), Tone (1:30), Level (to taste).
The American on the other hand I hadn't really found a use for until earlier today. I tried to cop a similiar over-the-top dirt my behringer overdrive does, and I didn't have to try too hard... In fact it does a much better job at it and on top of that it has a mids knob and is much more versatile! The break up on this thing is beautiful! It sings! One happy camper here.

As far as I've read here, everyone that owns one is very satisfied with the sound. My question is: does it get that same "tubey" sound as the B3K?
I think I'll get also a UD just for the price, although I already have my own share of dirt pedals and was thinking of getting a new fuzz instead of an OD/Distortion pedal. But I'll try it just for the fun.
By the way, I have an analog delay by Joyo. Can I apply for the club already?"

I decided to go with the California based on folks saying it has a lot of bottom end. Boy, it sure does! I used it this weekend with my Hadean Uke bass and had to really dial down the lows. It made the uke bass sound great. I also played the uke bass through my Dr J Sparrow in church. The Dr J also did a great job with warming up my tone and controlling the highs.

I tried the american and wasnt impressed but if the california is darker i would love it.
I'm loving my Joyo American (replacing my Grizzly Bass while it is being modded) ... I'm liking the tone I get from it more than the Sansamp`s!
But sometimes it picks up some heavy radio interference, which won't stop even when I'm playing. This is the only thing keeping me from taking it to gigs.Has anyone ran into this kind of issue with the American (and solved it)?

How are you powering your American?
What other pedals are in your chain?
What amp are you playing through?

I'm not too picky when it comes to tone shapers and most of what we consider great tone is lost in a live setting IMO. That said, compared to my dry signal, the lows were boosted a lot and in a good way. The rest of the shaping - warm tubey sound, can add some grit - is pretty standard for these units. The Dr. J Sparrow did very well in all departments also but with less emphasis on the bass and with different controls.
I don't use either for grit, I have an Arion bass distortion pedal and a Joyo UD for that.
To me the Cali has a more robust cleanish tone over the American. When pushed it sings and sustains a bit smoother.
For me it is much like the Submarine with more precise controls for drive and tone.

As mentioned earlier. My Ampless IEM rig using the American as a clean Amp sim. Using left over tuner and comp that haven't sold, plus an SB-2 passive radial DI. Sounds great!
I don't currently use the American, but it just excels at so much. It's great on my guitar AND bass boards. I'm toying with the idea of a dual duty board just for fun, and really, the only pedals I have that work equally as well on both are Joyo. My American and UD are pretty great, and at an amazing price.

After using it as dirt blended with a LS-2 I wanted to try it back as a more clean preamp.
As with the VT Bass, if put at the end of my chain it sounds nice but I noticed that if I used some kind of dirt before with a boosted signal it tend to create a blurry low end. Some might like it but regarding my personal tastes I found a lack of punch that way.
So, I put it a t the beginning of my chain with a drive setting to create just a bit of dirt while keeping a nice and focused low end (Drive between 10 and 11 with my P Bass). Then I use blended dirt after. In my case an OFD and a first try with the VT Bass blended with the LS-2.
The result is great : I can add the flavor of dirt I want, focusing them on a specific range of mids, while keeping the nice low end generated by the American.
A little bit counterintuitive, but it sounds really nice. Some kind of poor man bi-amping
The combination between the almost clean American and the Character cranked VT Bass is really interesting ! It just adds a layer of dirt at the good place while keeping all the punch in the low end.
The principle is to set the blend to keep the clean signal at the same level when the dirt is engaged and use the dirt as an added sound on this clean part.
