Muchas nice man!! Love it!

OK---it was warm today to take some outdoor shots of my Decade since its return from Lakland for restoration:

Whoa, looks awesome!!! How's it sound???? (I know, dumb question)

Thanks a bunch. How does it sound---doh. :) It's a Lakland---with Darkstars. Is there more to say?

But really, when I tried it out on "11", it reminded me of the old Gibson EB-3's from the 60's---very nasty, growley (word?spelling?), almost dangerous sounding. But turn down a bit to ease the tube overdrive, go a bit lighter on the fingerstyle, and you have a great old-school, Motownish sound. This is a keeper.

How's that?

Ya know... when I first got my Fretted USJO, the plan was to install darkstars (I still have the pickguard from jeannie's). I didn't realize that it was such an early serial number, but when I saw that and contacted the Lakland guys, they were against the bass being modded... they would've done it, but apparently Carl almost had a heart attack (figuratively) when he heard what I wanted to do... reading that review reminds me why I wanted to do that to the JO. It would really make it the perfect bass and compliment its natural sound.

Who knows, maybe I'll still do it. Resale value means nothing because this bass is never being sold.

I've thought about putting Darkstars in a Jazz of mine..I say go for it! Maybe make a Barry Oakley Tractor! That would be cool too!
