well, yesterday was my fist chance i had to play my new to me U.S. 4-94 dual j with my band. and let me tell you, WOW!!! why on earth they discontinued this model is a mystery to me. for a passive bass it has great output. it really has a great vintage tone. but it just sat perfect in the mix with my 2 loud ass guitar players with tube halfstacks.

both of them told me that the tone my bass was getting was perfect and the best of all my basses, i agree!! especially on our drop d songs, wich thanks to the d-tuner that i put on it made it a snap to go to d. it was funny, i could see the envy in their eyes as the detuned their guitars.

i love the fact that it has the original lakland style body and the 1.6 neck
to me, it is the perfect combination and the reason lakland is so popular today. i am still planning on posting some soundclips, but i still have the old highbeams on there that it came with. but here is a picture in the meantime, and since we are on a new thread

i forgot to mention that it is under 8 pounds!

Matty - nice to put Guitarists in their place!!!

would love to hear the clips...I assume it is different than a "std J"?

you gotta nice one there!!!

:eek::eek:

OH MY!!!!! I have never seen such birdseye!!!

a neck after my own dreams....I am more of a RW guy...but I have a VERY special nitch in my heart for Lakland's Birdseye...

teh neck on my 55-07 is very plain.:(...oh well! it will be the tone monster to end all tone monsters so I will be happy!!!:hyper:

I've noticed that with some Laklands lately.. not much birdseye going on, on their fingerboards.
