I feel the same way with Chris from Muse, lol.

Muse...... I'm pretty sure I have some of their stuff. An audiophile friend at work is always giving me copies of "my kinda music" and it takes me a while to listen to all that stuff. I'll have to dig thru and see.

I'm against copying music, so as a rule, if I like it I go buy it.

my band had our first show last night, and it was a raging success.

thanks to my trusty dual-j , wich i had alot of praise from the sound guys, they said i had the best tone they have heard in the 10+ years they heve been doing sound

Looks like your guitarist/vocalist is 100% Carvin... I love their B1500 and B800 (no longer made) bass amps.

What do you think of Coheed and Finger11, 2 of my current faves. F11's bassist IS a Lakland (Skyline) player as I've said a MILLION times here .


Oh, and F11 has some of the best written basslines in their genre, very tasteful and "different" for lack of better words. Listen to their heavier early stuff. They're much more than their 2 big radio hits would suggest.

I'm into coheed and muse... not finger 11 so much. Actually, these days I'm listening to the Roots and D'Angelo more than anything else.

Haven't heard Coheed...I'll check them out! My wife likes Finger11. I like them too, but I tend to like stuff slightly off center. Like The Swayback, etc.

I think I'd hold my own, actually! I just didn't listen to the radio (or watch MTV) much in the '80s, I was haunting my local indie record store.

It IS good....even better at the actual brewery!!!

I'm a fan of Owen and Callowhill. I've stated a few times that my next NEW bass will be a callowhill... I've been trying to nail down some deets which you can scope in my GAS list.
I am a huge fan of Hub, who held it so tight with them.

All right, I need some advice/opinions. I am moving my fretless JO5. I am going to replace it with something. I have a fretted JO5....what should I get next a Glaub or a 55-02? I am not playing much right now but have some excess cash (when I have time, I have no money, and vice-versa). Mostly do praise and worship/ccm (Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, ert), but also do some blues and rock, and occassionally some gospel (Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond). My JO5 does really cover it all really well, but I want to add a glaub and a 55-02 at some point (maybe even a hollowbody)....what should I get first and why? I am playing through a variety of eden cabinets, but mostly my navi/wt1000 into a 212. I actually already have a glaub and a 55-02 picked out, as they match my JO.

With the music you play (I play much of the same) I would go with the 55-02 first....it can give you alot more variety (and the more "modern sound" you need for Houghton etal) than a P - also the 5th string will be invaluable for those flat keys etc....

OK - they will go out with every renewal....BUT the renewal fee just jumped to $1500 each.....

I would go for a p-bass. the 55-02 is still close to a j-bass in my opinion... ya know, there's going to be a cool 5-string Glaub potentially. You should check it out.

Good point Evan! I CHI'd P would give you some good variety! With the single to double coil switch that would give you some decent variety in tone as well!!!
