All of these cabs I have mentioned are Avatars. I've been thinking it may be time for me to step up to something better, so I am wondering about moving to the Epi 410 that is ever popular around here, or two Epi 112s, which weigh a paltry 30 pounds each. (My Avatar 112 is similarly light, but the 210 weighs somewhat more).

At the same time, I'm intrigued by the three way cabinets out there. I've played through an Accugroove Whappo Jr. and liked it. I am curious about the three-way Dr. Bass products, although I am leary that Dr. Bass would be another Avatar-type choice (outstanding value, but an undeniable tonal compromise) which is not the choice I am trying to make. The Avatars are really not that bad at all - if I go to the trouble and expense of upgrading I want to absolutely be an upgrade.

So, as you can all see, I'm just a mess of GAS, more or less.

So, I had a really decent experience with my Avatar 410 at the gig last Saturday night. It was a midsized club with good FOH. Most bass players bring their "rigs of doom" into this club, but we were second in a list of three groups, and we have to play around the headliner's stuff, so I did not have a ton of room. In any case, the rig sounded just fine with my Skjold. I am beginning to think that the Skjold-->LMII-->Avatar combination happens to be a better one than the Valenti-->LMII-->Avatar one. I also have been using High Beams on my Valenti recently that I decided were not working for me (I just posted that story in the Valenti thread).

So, again, there seems to be no reason for me to upgrade unless doing so would result in a truly better tone.

What would be perfect is if there were some folks in Denver who have Epi 410s, Epi 112s, and whatever else, so we could do a GTG and compare all of them...

A while back, I mentioned that I have a CMD 102P combo amp. I'm thinking about getting a 115 to add for larger rooms. My question is, is there a lot of tonal difference in the "regular" 115 MB cab versus the "Traveler" version of the 115? I know the Traveler is a lot lighter (which is a good thing), but does that reduction in weight diminish the tone?

Also, while everybody here loves the MB heads, there doesn't seem to be as much enthusiasm for the cabs. Am I wrong about that? My other option would be a 115 Bag End cab to pair with the combo amp. The Bag End is actually cheaper, and weighs less than the "regular" MB 115. I've used a Bag End QBXD (?) 410 for about 8 years, and it's been great. So I guess I'm asking if you guys think I'm better off getting the MB or the Bag End 115. Thanks.

Oh yeah - no rush, but you might as well give me a club number too, since I keep forgetting to ask for one! Thanks again.
