Woot! Gotta...see how I can run two amps and two cabs, since my cabs are 4 ohms...
You could use an ABY box from Loooper just before your amp input(s). They make one with a tuner mute, too, which would also solve the problem of the absent mute function on these Markbass amps.

Edit - the pricing is not easy to find on their site, but I think an ABY with a tuner mute would be $70.

Yeah, I don't think Ken would subscribe to such foolishness... myself, on the other hand...

:hiding:

:D

I've actually thought about adding an F1 or another LMII as our guitar player actually likes a lot of bass on his side of the stage. Seems like we use IEM's more and more so it's kind of a moot point right now. And...as with Ken, I would prefer to schlep as little as possible. If I can take the gig bag with my Sad DI, Pitchblack tuner, and IEM's, I'm happy. :D

:D I'm trying to figure out how to take no gear to a gig... not doubling it up:D I assume he meant the 'Ken' from the Genz threads (I think that's his name) who uses double 6.0's on large gigs:D:p
Ahhhh... makes sense, and yeah, I'm always looking for a way to get what I want with the smallest and/or lightest stuff. :)

+1

I've always seen pictures of guys with multiple of the same head in their racks - like this one from the TF website:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

...and wondered why anyone would do that, versus driving one or more separate poweramps out of a single head/preamp to run multiple speaker configurations.

In the case of Markbass, at least I can see the point now, since the LMII and F1 don't have suitable outputs for outboard amps. Otherwise, I still don't get it, unless these are guys who use different heads to accomplish different tone goals and mix them together (a la Commerford), but my guess is that there aren't many of those guys around.

Unless it's strictly a backup head, noting you probably couldn't get a TFB repaired just anywhere, +1.

Ummm, a backup maybe, in case of failure....?
*edit* dang, beat me to it :)
The backup idea makes sense...but would you have your backup in your rack all the time, considering that a lot of causes of amp failure would be the result of some trauma to the amp (e.g. dropping it)? If that were my approach, I would probably tote it separately.

Come to Australia & pay the govt. for your bass gear!!! ;-(

I hear you.
I paid $1250AUD for my LMII and had to get one from the East Coast cause there were none in the West.
I'm sure Italy is as close to Aussie land as it is to USA!!!
Must be our wonderful Govt. making a killing.:hmm:

Yeah, it hurts sometimes. But I do love my LMII, got it for $1190 at the Bass Centre. Still a good deal I think.

You make a good point, but note he's got it all shock rack mounted, so I'm assuming he's just planning for electrical failure (either amp failure, or failure imposed by supplied power), in which case, at least the backup is right there, ready to connect and go.

On a lighter front...

I have this strange gig where they really like a lot of bass guitar in particular on stage, and I have to drive an additional cab on the keyboard side of the stage as a "remote bass monitor". For those of you that have been reading my drivel for a while, this is where my "2 ohm requirement" has always come from.

I have been using my MB stuff on the blues gigs, where I don't have to do this, but my Eden head for the gigs where I have to drive that other cab. So far, so good, but I really like the MB tone in a live setting... it's a bit punchier, and I'm sure it'd work great in this gig, but of course I can't drive that other cab.

Well, an interesting development. I just got this F1 head for eval due to a nice sale online, so now I have both the LMII and the F1 (like some other folks do). What's cool about these, at least for my strange and bizarre needs, is they stack perfectly. Yeah, you know where this is going. :) Also key, is the parallel effects loop default.

So I pipe the efx send on the primary (my rig) head into the efx return on the "aux cab" head. What's really awesome about this, is I have individual tone controls for both speakers, and volume controls as well. For this particular oddball config, it's about as good as it gets... even better than driving a power amp from the head, since the same tone controls would affect both sides. It'd work ok, but not ideally.

So I was on the fence about whether I'd keep both, and if not, which one would stay, but I think this locks them both in. I'm going to try it at the gig tonight, but I expect it to work great.

A cool side benefit of this is, with some simple cable swapping, I can finally do a real effective A/B test between the F1 and LMII on a gig. :hyper: :hyper:
My bad- it's not the Ken setup, it's the Vic setup. I was on my phone when I posted last, and it's a pain to read back through...I knew it was one of youse guys north of I-10...

Heh--I've been planning on the Vic setup since I got both a Shuttle 6.0 and a MB 102P in the same week. :D

Instead of using one as a slave for the other, though, I'm planning on running the Shuttle 6.0 into an EA 1x12 with high tube gain, and the Markbass 102p with the VLE at about noon. :bassist:

I got a LittleMark II over the weekend :hyper:. I will try to get pictures at my practice Thursday.

Has anyone else tried the LM with Hartke Aluminum speakers? It was the first amp that I plugged into my Hartke speakers and said, wow. A little boost in the bass and low mids to compensate for cabinet voicing and those 6 Aluminum tens became a tone monster with my L2500. All my bandmates were amazed at how much my sound improved over the HA3500 I was using. Sounds great with my keyboard too.

Why did I wait so long to try this amp? :bassist:

i plugged my LMII into the hartke 410xl i had, and it sounded quite awesome

I believe that second TF of Keith Horn's is the amp for the sit-in bass player (different settings and bass) when Keith plays other instrument in that show. You can however slave or link the TF together.

Also, I think the SA450 can be run out to a slave power amp. I think TB'r El Kabong does this with his SA450 and a CA9.

I just recently bought an F1 and own the LMII. I tried the multi rig set up and really didn't care for either hook that much. I prefer my B1500 with multiple cabs.

Markbass (Pete Murray) recommended hook up of:
1.) Primary Amp - tuner out to Secondary amp input.

Vic's recommendation: (preferred this one)
2.) Primary Amp - send to Secondary amp return.
Only the eq and master on the Second amp will work this way.

I tried both LMII and F1 as primary amp. Thought the LMII was a bit better in that role.
