The worst that's happened is that someone's neck needed some adjustment (in my understanding of it).
The "yellowing" of the binding concerns me on the one someone got. Also, the warped necks is bothersome. Also, how do you return a Rickenbacker? Aren't they "non returnable"? The site I ordered one from last week, (then canceled for a MM/SR) read a disclaimer to me over the phone stating Rics were not returnable for any reason. That I would need to deal directly with the company if I had any problems.
From the reports of the yellowing binding and warped necks, sounds like they may be in a hot warehouse? I'm glad now for two reasons that I canceled my order for the reasons stated and I had ordered a new Maple Glo at 1949.00. I would of been so mad at myself being that I did not see this sale.
I hope everyone who gets theirs don't have any further issues. Possibly they are discounting these because they know something?
I hope not as it would be very unfair to the customer and Rickenbacker if these were warehoused improperly.

MF has a 45 day return. If it is defective, they pay return shipping. If you don't "like" it, you pay return shipping. Pretty reasonable IMO.
I bought one in May from MF, and I used price matching to get a good deal, but not as good at this one!
Mine was flawless (Oct 2010 manufacture date) and I love it to death. It was Midnight Blue as well, as that is my favorite of the current line of colors.
I am excited to see this deal, even though I can't partake. It is exciting to see the TB community able to take advantage of this amazing deal!
Knock it off, guys, you're killing me. Positive thoughts, here, come on! Help me make it through the weekend.
Yes, I just researched MF. You are right about their retur policy.
AMS however have a different policy.
Despite the somewhat European sounding name, every instrument bearing the Rickenbacker name was produced in Rickenbacker's own factory in California, U.S.A.
*There are no returns allowed on Rickenbacker basses.
AmericanMusical.com is an authorized dealer of Rickenbacker products.
Sorry Spectrum. The best advice here from a poster was to take the Ric to a qualified tech who knows how to set them up. ANY bass sitting in a warehouse for over a year will have neck issues.
Ah, my bad. I thought you had ordered one from MF...
I'm in love. I got it, and the action was sky-high. After giving each of the two truss rods a half turn, the neck went totally flat and the action is nice and low where I like it. The ergonomics take some getting used to, but It feels very much like my p bass.
The sounds? Wow! Again, I'm in love. How it will sound in the mix is to be seen, but right now, I'm smitten. Pics are forthcoming. If y'all will excuse me, I'm going back to playing![]()
Congrats, way to approach a new bass with an open mind and a little know-how.
I am GREEN WITH ENVY. I already have three, and still I'm so angry that I can't (won't) let myself buy another. What kind of sick GAS is that anyway?
