Most people here that own over 5 basses will tell you that they hardly ever check relief o their basses unless it;s their main player.

Hell, when I owned 1 or 2 basses both were alywas set up perfecty. Not that I own half a dozen I only ever set up the one that I play with. And I'm sure as heck that a couple of the basses I own have not been set up in some 5 years and teh relief is nothing to make a big deal about.

Well I'm home with the one I bought. I'm Canadian living in Toronto area and had it delivered to my hotel in Dallas while on a business trip.

My total cost in Canadian dollars is:

$1157 CDN to MF for purchase and overnight shipping to my hotel. (This is the total including the 10% discount I managed to get.)
About $25 CDN to American Airlines to check it onto the airplane.
$58.50 to Canada customs (he gave me the full $750 exemption so I paid tax on about $450 CDN)

Total cost: $1240 CDN.

Great deal. Here are some pics I took while at the hotel.

That sounds a bit made up... I mean, no Ric I've played of recent vintage was any bigger than a P neck, in fact all were smaller. But they are hand profiled so you never know.

Actually, as long as I can remember everytime I've played ANY new Fender 'P' Bass in Guitar Center I've always thought how thick and chunky the necks felt compared to mine, no matter how expensive. It's hard to tell by my pictures of the necks near the nut, but hopefully you can tell the P Bass neck is much thinner at the nut so it's not, "a bit made up". Why would I lie anyway? I'm not saying I don't like the Ric. I was just surprised the next was thick. I'm just used to playing a P Bass with a super thin neck, AND a Jazz with the same. Also, my P bass's width at the nut is 1 and 9/16" and the Ric is 1 and 11/16at the nut.

So anybody plan on swapping pickguards? What colors do you think would look good on the midnight blue? (other than the pearly white one)

I didn't even think of swapping the P.G. I purchased the PickGuardian mod so I can remove the pickup cover though.
Got that in White. Now I'm wondering if I should have ordered Pearl White? I guess I'll find out when it arrives.

My Ric should be waiting for me when I get home!

Mine just arrived. I'm at work so I can't play it. The binding is much more yellow than I would have anticipated. The neck has some forward bow, but I'm guessing some truss rod tweaks will fix that. I'll know more tonight.

I've attached a crappy cell phone picture to prove the bass' existence.

Edit: I wanted to mention that I haven't voted yet. The results of the poll are obviously meaningless, as most people probably won't receive their basses until today.

Exactly. Much to do about nothing.

To be clear: I for one am not worried about the "relief" or "forward bow" that mine has. It's a bit of relief that looks like how most basses are setup (alot are not set perfectly straight.) It's no worry. I'm sure I can straighten with the rods. I'll be doing that this weekend.
