*Official* MF MID Rickenbacker Sale thread

Mine arrived today. Unfortunately, it was shipped in only the box that Rickenbacker packed it in. It was not put into a second box and had no additional padding. Of course, the plastic hardshell Ricky case arrived cracked in two corners. The bass itself appears to not be damaged at all as far as I can tell. I will take a closer look this evening when I get it home. I am at work and I don't have access to a camera to post pics unfortunately.

I called MF and the customer service folks were very helpful and they are shipping me a new vintage case in replacement. Still, I am shocked that MF would do such a shoddy job of packaging such an expensive bass. Plus, I have the hassle of returning the damaged case.

If you ordered one, I'd be curious to hear how your bass fared during shipment.

If MF is shipping you a new "vintage" case - rejoice!!! Much better case for the bass and looks ten times better!!

For the record, I am not complaining about the yellowish color of the binding. I was just surprised by it. I think the bass looks fantastic. It is quite possibly the coolest-looking thing I own.

Gotcha!! But seriously....you did pay good money for it and if it bothers you in ANY way, send it back and get another....That's the beauty of buying from a reputable dealer...and I believe MF stands behind their products.

Same here. it was fine when it arrived at the hotel. Then I taped it closed again and transported it via American Airlines checked baggage. Outer box looks fine still but have not opened it up yet since I got home.

I pulled the trigger. I've wanted a Ric for years, but never could justify the purchase given their price and wait time. For $1300, it seems worth it too me.

Days later, I'm still in processing status. Always dug the midnight blue color, but the question is... will I black it out? I already have all the blackout gear for it (tuners/bridge/pg/etc.).

Quick story for you......

We were playing a job about 6 months ago....we take a break and I walk off the stage.....this GORGEOUS blonde walks up to me with this "come hither" look in her eyes. She stops me and (I swear) this is what she says "That's the most beautiful and sexy guitar I have EVER seen".....now, I have been happily married for as long as most of you guys have been on the planet......and that was the one night that I actually cursed my luck......I thanked her and went on backstage.....

Moral of the story? The MID Ric is a gorgeous bass!

Sterling Ball himself said the narrow spacing on the SR5 was taken from a Rickenbacker they had in the shop!

How did you manage to arrange shipping new Ric outside US? AFAIK it's prohibited...

Haven't posted over here in a while, but I saw this thread and figured I'd contribute.

Oh, dear, that doesn't look good at all, PMagers. Since Musiciansfriend doesn't open the boxes (I don't think), who knows when that damage happened? Hopefully they will take it back and send you another one.

I bought one Wednesday and got shipping info yesterday evening, but there isn't an expected delivery date on it yet. I hope it gets here next week.

My two biggest Rickenbacker complaints are their cases and shipping boxes. Since Rickenbacker doesn't follow the UPS or FedEx guidelines for shipping (so many inches of padding around the item), I don't know how UPS would deal with a damage claim. Essentially, Rickenbacker sends their stuff out with just the case protecting it, and they aren't rated for shipment.

Thanks - just talked with them. They'll take it back, refund or exchange. I'll give it some thought, no assurance this won't happen again, or something similar. As said previously, it came off the UPS truck with nothing but the factory cardboard box around the case, pathetic.
