I know I can't join the club (YET!) But last week I finally got a chance to try out the Orange AD200B and OBC 115 at the Chicago Music Exchange. WOW!! Jazzman has been pitching this rig to me ever since he got his and he wasn't kidding. I A/B'd it against every bass rig in the practice room including an Eden 300T, Ampeg B15R, Ampeg B100R and a 65 Ampeg SB-12 Portaflex. To my ears (and to that of my old guitarist who was with me), the Orange was warmer, punchier and deeper. I ran everything pretty much at noon, although we did experiment (briefly) with the cranking the gain for a dirtier sound. I tried it with a number of vintage p basses, as well as a Fender VI but thumpy bass nirvana was attained when I plugged a early 60's Hofner strung with flatwounds into the amp.

I plan to order the cabinet and see how it sounds with my V4b. I am anxious to find out how much of the goodness I heard was the head vs the cabinet.

I was very impressed.

Pedro...You do realize it's really the player...right? Aside from that, I bet it was largely the amp, but the cab makes a difference too.

I visited a small shop in Northbrook, IL (a north suburb of Chicago) today and saw that they have an AD200B and the 115. I believe that the shop owner offered the brand new AD200B to me for (iirc) $1800...which seemed like a good price. He said it's been there for a while and rarely used. I'm not sure what the 115 is going for (I believe it's tagged at $625ish) but I bet he's ready to work something out on that too.

Just got an Orange OBC-115 on a local trade deal. Only two gigs under my belt with it, but I'm very pleased with the cab as a stand-alone. Maybe a little upper-mid/top-end shy for me. But the ol' ears have to get adjusted to a new sound (from BE S15's to the Orange).

Is it a keeper? Prolly not! I'm a gear slut. But it's a damn fine cab, and if I had the resources, this would be in my "Keep File"!!

don't own one, but i played through a tunderverb 200 into a 4x10 and a 1x15 and it was magical, even at low volume. cranked the gain and i fell in love. i'd love to get an ad200 but no way i could afford it unless i found someone to let me borrow the cash, know i would never be able to pay back.

Well, it's quite a different beast. It likes basses with humbuckers.

The amp itself it not as warm as an orange, but it has a different type of tone. It is actually quite versitile, and has a raw sound. I'll definately buy a new one if i get the chance. (sold mine a while back)

My AD200 has just arrived ;) I'm looking for a matching cab right now. I want to buy something small as I've got hole in my pocket. The most obvious choice is of course Orange OBC115. From the other hand I'm thiking of Mesa Powerhouse 1x12 as it has frequency and horn control. It is also supposed to have more clear sound. Would it be a crime?

I've played today my AD200 for the first time. I don't have a cab yet, so I took the amp to the place where I play with my band and plugged it to very old cab which is true disaster. I put the amp on top and when I started to play I heard some rattling noise inside the gear. I was afraid that something was wrong with my amp, but fortunatelly it was something in the cab. Anyway I couldn't get any decent tone from the amp and it didn't cut through drums and guitar ;( I menaged to dial John Entwistle tone but when it came to full and round settings I surrendered.
I know that it's the matter of the cab - of course I will get one soon - but still I wonder if it is possible to get pure bass tone.
