I know this club will likely be small, but why not? Let's band together and have endless discussions about how our Peavey GV's and G's are better than sliced bread and anything that anyone has ever made, ever, throughout the history of time! How does the tone compare between the two?

The Q6 has EMG's so think Spector tone very clean and precise. But. Since the GV kicks its a** every which way (but price) it don't get plugged in much!

Nice! Glad to see the GV stacks up well against some serious competition!

I spent a good amount of time setting up the purple GV today. I'm not sure anyone ever owned this one either (my red one appeared to be NOS).Still has batteries in it that has a "best by" date of 2004, and it appears to have the original Cirrus strings on it, although the strings have oxidized a bit on the tuners and at the bridge. Strings still sound new. Had to take the plastic sheet off the back covers. The control cavity cover had what appeared to be a barcode from the factory with the serial number on it. Not sure what it is with GV's showing up in CA, and being hardly touched, but I'll take it!

I have a metallic black G-Bass IV and I love it! Very versatile sound ( the one pickup is perfectly placed), and it's the best playing bass I own.

This is my G stock:

Here it is with all black hardware, the tuners are Hipshot Ultra-Lite and the bridge is the standard Fender style (I had both in my parts drawer):

I'm planning on putting a black Gotoh 201 on soon. I just put a used set of Chromes on it. The G string was a hair short and only has one turn, but seems ok. I was going to trim the silk off the G string, but the open G doesn't sound any different from the G# so I left it.

I hope to get a GV someday.

Yeah, the black screws I had with the bridge were a little smaller than the ones that were on the stock Gotoh, so I had to go with the bigger ones. I'm going to get a black Gotoh 201 in a month or so and it will come with black screws that will fit.

I keep thinking of swapping my stock tuners for either Hipshots or Gotohs, but the they are smooth enough and hold a tune well enough that I can never justify it.

The stock tuners are good. I only changed mine because I thought black would look good and I already had the tuners.

If I had paid for them I probably would have just gotten regular Gotoh tuners instead of the Ultra-Lites, since the G bass was balanced perfectly already. But the Hiphot are excellent tuners.
