OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse club

When I first got the bass I was really disappointed in the piezo pickup - if you use it exclusively it sounds like garbage - but now I'm really starting to appreciate it. I found that it's actually great to mix it in with the EMG pickup, it gives a really unique boomy sound, and sounds great when hitting the low B-string. I've been using it to play "Sweet Dreams" by the eurythmics and it's earth shaking.

Awwwwwwwwww Yeah!!

I did the search, couldn't find it so here we go,
a place for all of us lovers of Ned, appreciators of efficiency, fetishists of the fastigium of form & function....

the OFFICIAL Steinberger Synapse Clubb!!!!!!! (and yes, the double 'b' to be the different bunch we are)
...
I don't want to be rude, intruding or nitpicking, but....where are all the pics??
Celebrating your favorite basses without pics is like a birthday without presents!

I don't own a Steinberger myself, but I love to get acquainted...:)

The Steinberger and Headless club threads, mostly.
I've got a couple scattered here and there, but if you want pix, those are where to go.
If I posted my Synapse pix in every thread for which they qualify (Steinberger, 5-String, Headless, Fretless, White Basses, ...) there'd be a lot of pointless duplication...

Finally, the Status Hot Wire bass strings are here. I've tried the 'hand wound, double-ball, black nylon' set first.
This is how the 908 mm (35 ¾") strings look on both ends. The balls are visible on the bridge side, yet I had no problems setting it up.
I like the black on black looks...

How are you liking the Status nylons? I want to order a set for the new fretless after I'm sure the bass is OK.

Can I join? Bought a Synapse 4-string a month ago and it's pretty much the only bass that's been out since. Generally stuck to using the EMG but had a go this weekend using the piezo mixed in high - and loved the thump with the scrapping/body sounds generally disappearing into the mix.

They're very comfortable to play, smooth almost like a classical guitar. Bass doesn't roar but the sound is warm, no secondary noises while moving over the fretboard. Probably they would sound even better on a fretless bass. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. Cheers

hey add me to the list please! i have a 5 string in red.

I use status nylon hotwires too, and I love them. theyre at the other end of the sprectrum from the labella nylons which are very bright/talky and high tension - these have a loose rubbery feel and a warm dark sound (I use the 45-130 gauge). Whereas the high G string on the labellas is stiff and not much for popping, the high g on these is rather light and seems made for popping. I actually find the sound of the G a bit too metallic when playing straight with your fingers unless your treble is all the way down. I use these on the Synapse and labellas on my hohner b2a 4 string
