Dear football fans, "tundra" means "frozen earth." To say "frozen tundra" is redundant.

Tundra can refer to an ecosystem dominated by lichens, mosses, and low-lying shrubs characteristic of the arctic and subarctic regions. Although deeper subsoil layers can be permanently frozen, the top soil layers can thaw so that vegetation may grow in the summer.

The Patriots' linebackers are going to make a statement in the SB. The D-line is solid as well.

The Pats O-line is healthy and playing very well. They will give Brady enough protection to make enough plays to finish drives with TDs.

The Pats do have a running/short passing game that adds balance to their offense.

The Pats defensive secondary makes enough plays to stop key drives. They will be a big factor.

All your points are well taken. Except for the tundra one, as
tundra, even though the subsoil is permanently frozen, the
topsoil thaws and supports moss, lichens, small shrubs and
such. Since tundra need not always be frozen, the adjective
doesn't seem inappropriate when it is.

I am not sure Lambeau Field qualifies as frozen tundra, even
though Moss has occasionally been found there. I have heard
that the subsoil there is not frozen year round as it has a high
residual alcohol level in the groundwater. 5% or so. We'll just
let it go.

'Jazz playing oenophile' though, that could be construed as
redundant.

Elaborate, please. I'm sure you remember the game better than I do, but I don't remember Belichick emptying the bench and playing nobodies all night.

I think the three point loss plays a huge motivation for the Giants. They have to feel great about only losing by three points to the best team in the NFL. After picking off Dallas and Green Bay back to back on the road, that whole team is pumped.

I'm picking the Giants, behind the foot of the new "LT".

Great question - I'll throw my thoughts out there.

I believe in the theory that the "football gods are rewarding the Giants for playing hard in the last game of the regular season" and I also admire them for it.

You are correct about the personnel not changing; but the Patriots did appear to be going for the TD passing records as much as they were going for the win. Can't say that I blame them.

The Patriots running game has been featured more in the playoff games and it is effective. If the G-men continue with the heavy pressure on Brady; they may be looking at the backs breaking off some long runs or lots of yards after carry on swings and screens. The Chargers took away Moss so the Pats ran and found Welker and Faulk. They also play pretty good Red Zone Defense.

The Pats take what you give them and in the SB they will probably be more prepared for what the Giants will give them.

When a Pats fan looks at the Giants run through the playoffs, they see the '85 Pats. Now, I expect that the Giants will give the Pats a better game than the Pats gave the Bears but you gotta admit there are similarities.

Hmmm, let's see....Brady in a dome - controlled environment, artificial turf, constant temperature, no wind or rain. I say Belichick will unleash the dogs while the Pats D will be inspired to win it for Junior. Pats 42, Giants 7.

Congrats to the Giants. If ever a superbowl was earned, it was this one. I knew last week when they shut down the Pack, that they had a chance. The '72 Dolphins can have their champgne party. I don't think New England will be able to repeat what they did this season. Defense wins superbowls and it was proven yet again tonite.

Way to go Giants.

I'm not much of a football fan but I watched the whole game and really enjoyed it. I had no favorite other than knowing the Giants were the underdogs. Great game, I'll watch the Superbowl again next year

That was a great game. Cool to see a former Steeler haul in the game winning TD.

For me, the play of the game was when that big Giants lineman bull rushed right up the middle on the last drive and pile drived Brady into the turf. That was great.

I guess the Patriots will have to wait another year to get close to the Steelers, 49ers, and Cowboys in total Super Bowl victories. For now, you guys can hang out back there with a measly three.

I'm still amazed by the highlight-reel throw Manning made on the last drive. He must have had three Patriots grab his jersey and then lofted it up off his back foot resulting in a catch that was equally improbable. Wow.
