I think they had the best ads of the night.

Except for the coach, the Pats are a class team which makes the G-men's win even better. It is always best to win against the best.

Manning really stepped up tonight and watching his brother root for him with great passion was the icing on the cake of a great performance.

I'm not a Pats fan but the Pats are a great team and will need to be reckoned with next year as much as this year.

As for us Giants fans, we will savor this one because Lord only knows what next year will bring.

My guess is the Pats go in the tank after this. They will still be competitive and go to the playoffs, but seriously, their run is over.

Lots of old guys who will do what every old guy on teams like this do...fade away, with no youth to replace them.

I've seen it happen first hand, being a Packers fan, where the team had THE best run in the NFL for ten straight years, after their two Super Bowl appearances. It is inevitable.

Wasn't happy about the outcome but it was certainly an exciting game.

The Pats were outcoached and outplayed and the Giants made the big plays when they needed to and the Pats didn't.

Both the throw and the catch were amazing - you know it is not your day when things like that happen.

That said, I wouldn't count on the Pats being pushovers next year. If anything, the Pats wrote the book on letting older high-priced talent go when they weren't worth it anymore.

But could some writer please learn about the game and football and in so doing, recognize the superior offensive line play of NE and note that it's easier for a great QB to go 26-28 when he has no pressure on him.

What's my point?

Well, Brady is a very, very different QB facing pressure. All QBs are, but it's the way you beat NE. You limit the time on the field for NE's offense, with long, ball-controlling drives. Manning has been accurate, (thanks largely to the absence of a poor route-running Shockey). Burress presents a real challenge for the small NE corners, and has been hot lately. Bradshaw is running extremely well and I'm very excited to see what his speed can do to the NE LBs. While NE has a great secondary, (undersized though), their LBs are aging, and the long grind of the season is showing some effects. So, NY knows what it has to do on offense.

Defensively, NY has to create pressure. They couldn't beat Dallas twice during the season because the offensive line shut down NY's pass rushers. In the playoff game against Dallas, NY was successful and creating a lot of pressure the second half. Also, they've been effective against the run, (except the first half of the Dallas game). They have to get pressure on Brady, and chuck Welker and Moss at the line. You have to be confident that your corners can cover. If you drop into zones, Brady will pick you apart. Moss hasn't been the same late in the season, and I'm not totally sure what that is about. NY's defense is playing really well right now, stopping both the GB and Dallas offenses at home.

Pacman is absolutely right in pointing out that NE makes its living changing schemes. That doesn't negate the gameplan for NY. Get pressure, which can result in turnovers, and control the ball offensively.

NE has a habit of playing safe defense for the first 3 quarters and going aggressive defensively in the 4th quarter. This is why teams, (NY, Indy, Dallas, Baltimore, Philly), have lost leads late in the game and wound up losing the game. NY couldn't handle this earlier in the season and Manning threw a bad pick. Will NY be ready for it this time?

NY is hot, and I'll give them points for that. NE has been winning, but they have lost the swagger they had earlier in the season. I think NY will win. If so, Manning will probably get MVP. If NE wins, they'll give it to Brady, although in all likelihood it will be Welker or Maroney that deserves it, but these things are political anyway, so...

So, um, looks like I called that one, eh? Greatest teams of all time don't lose the Super Bowl to a wildcard team, (even though the wildcard team was very, very good).
