Really close! It happens to be a signature out of the Hollywood Shop - walnut core/walnut neck/Goncalo top. It's got that super articulate Signature sound on top of a super fat bottom. I received it in trade for a choice old Alembic Series I from Brian Barrett. These are his pics.

The 6 is a Gibson Nashville Classic with a walnut body. That combo of walnut body and maple neck has my fav Tobias tones in it (even if it is Gibson) - very versatile and lots of growl.

Thank you - I love that bass! The pre-Gib Signatures are definitely some of the best sounding basses I've ever heard. They're amazingly tight, rich, articulate, and naturally compressed. I just wish that I had been smart enough to spring for one back when I ordered my Classic in '87.

BTW, your Sig looks very similar to the six-string version on the cover of the '89/'90 Tobias catalog:

WOW, that is an amazing looking instrument! Mike makes my favorite 6's, no doubt. You are quite correct that the walnut neck with walnut body produces a lot of natural compression. Yeah, that 6 in the pic is probably an amazing instrument for some lucky cat.

I foolishly sold my late-80's Bassic back when my son was born and we needed money... :bawl:
I'd love to find that bass again.
Mike literally made the neck to the measure of my hand.
Red quilted maple, black hardware. I changed the controls to 2 volume instead of vol/blend, and I think I had Mike Demeter replace the pre-amp with one of his.

If any of you see her... let me know?

Got this beauty a few weeks ago, posted elsewhere but forgot to post here (doh!)

Maple/purpleheart neck. Alder/wenge/walnut body.
Plays and sounds like a dream. I am massively inspired every time I pick her up to play.
