BassDaddy5 - yes, I'm waiting also. Been a year at this point, except I augmented my order 10 months ago. 19 months now for you, wow.

There is one unexpected side benefit, if that's even possible. For California buyers, the state sales tax drops by 1% tomorrow (Friday, July 1), and Zon did not calculate or expect tax from me as of yet....

Anyone else still waiting for a Vinny. I've been waiting for 19 months. I'm so frustrated with Zon I don't think I even want it anymore.

I hear you man- I'm sorry for the frustration. I know how it feels- from two different makers, for over 4 years each.

Did you have any custom options on it, or is it a straight forward Vinny?

Black hardware, if you call that a custom option.

Very strange. Did you contact Joe (via phone) and given an explanation as to why it's taking so long? I ordered my Vinny and received it just 3 weeks late (total of about 7 months). This included the custom options:

* black hardware (new bridge from Hipshot)
* gallery top
* 26 frets

BTW - here it is...

... but that IS rubbing salt in open wounds. :-/

... I'm not out for drying laundry in public, but there's some serious pain here.... :-/

I certainly did not intend to rub salt in a wound here. I was merely stating my experience as I am wondering exactly why you are having yours... that, and I haven't posted these pics for awhile (esp. since the latest thread started). My humble apologies if it appeared as anything different.

I regard to the issue in question, I'll PM you.

22 months here.

6VBH Fretless, Black Hardware, 26 positions

Seriously though, AJ, I remember you ordered your bass after I ordered mine since yours has the 26 positions you asked me about after I ordered mine. I'm still waiting for my bass while you've had yours for about a year now(?).

There are good reasons why Zon was unable to complete my bass, although whether the nearly tripling of time estimated can be accounted for by those reasons is an open question.

Thank you Ehque, I assume the 1 month wait will start from the moment customer service will answer the mail I sent asking how and where to transfer the repair payment.
A week and still no answer ATM.
I need a truss rod install and a preamp replacement.
I'll keep you guys tuned.

Hey Francesco,

He should get back to you eventually about the money transfer. I'll call to discuss the shipping details with him on Tuesday, and that should remind him to reply.

You can install a truss in a Legacy, though I think (but am not entirely sure) it requires a refinish of the entire bass.

I never thought of it as a custom shop. When I got my Sonus Special 6 (2000) it was basically "which model do you want?" and "Do you want the bubinga top or something else".

If you are specific about what you want, he generally will build it for you.

My vinny 6 has radiused/humbucking/series-parallel pickups, 26 fret positions, and non-standard electronics, including smaller knobs to fit it all on the smaller vinny body. All are custom options and none are posted on the Zon website.

You know the rules ... no pics no VB6. :p
