Congratulations on the most positive evidence of imminent arrival that you have had thus far. You have waited 22 months? So...... perhaps at the absolute worst, i'm looking at ETA on a more basline Vinny in 12 more months....at the worst.... That might be better than getting my hopes up every 6 weeks or so only to be disappointed......

But let's celebrate your pending arrival. A Vinny 6!! Congrats....

Here's hoping it comes soon!

Putting out a feeler here - now that I have my "custom special doohicky fretless", I am thinking of putting my Sonus Special fretless 5 on the market. Any interest here?
One of the nicest bubinga tops I've ever seen... and all the other qualities of a Sonus Special fretless. Along with a radiused ramp and wooden knobs by David King. It has 16.5 mm spacing rather than 17mm.

Wow, that was originally mine. I got it new from Adrian Garcia some years back. It's the bass that addicted me to Zons for fretless. Only reason I sold it is because I just don't have much call for fretless these days, but if I did, Zon tops my list, and in particular, this model. GREAT bass.

Here's hoping it comes soon!

Sad to hear there are still delays in getting the basses built and sent out! I was told 4-6 months and it ended up being 10. Comparing that to 19! I am a lucky boy! Is Bartolini still the culprit?

FWIW the wait was worth it! My VB4 goes with me everywhere and sounds great, plays great and is so portable! So overall I would rate the bass an excellent buy.

Just wish the CS at Zon would improve. They really have a great product!

I have to offer corroborating praise for Zon customer service. It goes way beyond my current new Vinny scenario. Here's what I can list, just from memory:

1. They have serviced my drop-off projects (two different Zons) countless times.
2. They did a rush job service on one (very used) Zon I had to take in, then boxed it up and shipped it to a buyer in SoCal, on short notice, and under tight time constraints.
3. They have responded quickly to actionable email queries within just a couple business hours many times.
4. They KNEW what I was thinking on my dream list, w hen the time came to start building my first new Zon, presented me with an informed summary of my options, what each one meant, and accepted (what was then) some flexible payment on my part. (That was several moons ago, so benefits from my custom Zon "payment" plan are largely moot 8+ months later, but I still have to credit them with this one).
5. These are just cool people.

My frustration is not with Zon customer service. It is with ONE of their component vendors, who happens to be in the same country AND the same state, AND the same general region....

Michael Manring is playing at the Canadian Guitar Festival again this year (July 31st 8.00PM Sunday Night) and then doing a clinic the following Tuesday at Pinnacle Music Studies in Belleville (7.00PM August 2nd). Last year, he had his ZON Michael Manring Hyperbass, the Sonus Hyperbass and his (newer) VB4 with him. There are a few videos of his performance at the festival on YouTube. Of note, was the long Ebow intro he did to The Enormous Room at the festival. At the clinic he performed and then took questions from the audience.
