Yesterday was the "birthday" of my amazing Zon fretless. Completed 4/28/2011, I picked it up the next day.
I recorded this tune last week as my "stay at home" project - an old Klezmer tune by clarinetist Naftule Brandwein. The original instrumentation was clarinet, tuba, and percussion, and I went with bass, bass, and percussion.

Hey Zon Friends,
While I love my Legacy Elite 519, I don't really love the way the knobs point. So with too much time on my hands, I decided to do something about it. Sure, I could have just re-pointed the stock knobs but I really like the Sadowsky-style knobs. The white line is my favorite reference (as opposed to just a dot) and I also wanted to re-orient them so they look *at* me rather than away from me.
Before: This is everything centered and the volume full up.
And after. Sadowsky's shop is closed so I had to do some research! These are Kilo knobs and they seem to be the exact same. In fact, one of these IS a Sadowsky knob! Can you tell the difference? I sure can't and I put it on.
My next little project is to install gold Schaller S-Locks straplocks. Tomorrow!

The top is Black Redwood Burl (w/matching headstock). I picked the top from a couple of options and then asked Joe to reverse the halves. I'm pretty happy with how it came out!

I MUCH prefer the Dunlop Dual Design locks, but hey, if your collection sports Schallers then it's more important to be consistent.
And that top is 10 out of 10. Love how the grain flows with the body, so I'm sure you made the right call reversing the halves.

• Bridge pickup FILTER FREQUENCY/FILTER PEAK

But I will say this - the bass part is mostly neck pup with the LPF rolled back just below the halfway position.
The melody is mostly bridge pup with LPF rolled back to what for me is the "sweet spot".

Has anyone used an EMG BQC in their Zon combined with the stock Bart's? The idea of the selectable treble, sweepable mids, and 18v is very appealing. There is also a potential of adding another VMC module, putting the mids before the active blend, and having a AGC style mid sweep for each pickup.
Well I guess its not really like the ACG since it is not variable LPF's, just variable bandpass filters, but it would still be somewhat similar.
Hello everyone, long time, glad to see you all still at it. Ive owned my 5 string since Dec 2012 and really love it. I do not play in bands so its just me at home. In that scenario I feel I would get bored with any bass. I have done side by side comparisons at Planet Bass with four other Zons all different in one way or another. The difference in tone were slight and at the end of the day they were all Zon and sounded very similar. I have learned how to use my Mesa Big Block tone sculpting much more than I had been able to in a manner that I am much more happy with my tone. I hated the OD channel but now only use that channel with it set between 8-9 o'clock very slight fuzz and then in combination with the gain knob ( you use them in conjunction with each other on that amp, Iam now really really digging my tone, very SVT like tube sound for rock, slightly overdrive and it is absolutely quiet unlike many amps because iam always playing at low volumes to not disturb the household so like my Galien Krueger amp has this his. On top of that I tried Ernie Ball Cobalt strings and just love them, I mean I now am super stoked on my tone! Best my Zon has ever sounded. It's going thru a custom built 4-10 cab loaded with Beyma 10G40 transducers. Happy to report Iam loving this new found tone. Camping Happy up here in Fargo
