Special shout out to @winegamd for the ballpoint-pen-spring idea (ended up being plum necessary, as the hardware store had no compression springs small enough) and @JuanB for identifying the screw type correctly!

Went to my locally-owned hardware store, ended up with a M3x25mm screw, fit perfectly with plenty of room on the adjustment axis

Looks like a Sonus 5/1 - but since there are many customization options, it may be that it has a different 'formal designation'. Let's wait for the owner's response to see how far/close my guess was

The seller said Sonus. It’s a great bass. No trussrod I see. But it’s from ‘94 so pretty stable I suppose.

It now lives in San Diego; well it did in 2011 when I sold it (not really sure if it is still there).
