I'm still waiting for my Sonus 8 to be completed. It's already at almost a year over the estimated date. Sigh.
I'm thinking that since the 3rd number is a 9 and September is the 9th month of the year, it would match with what Martin said in note. That really has helped me figure out when my Sonus 5 fretless was built. Thank you for the information.

Going to give an upvote for keeping it. I have 3 very custom Zons but my early years Sonus 4 (that I've messed with endlessly, admittedly) is a keeper until the end. The early necks can be Plek'ed to be perfectly playable if needed, their necks are to die for, and they sound excellent.

Yes all of them have Hipshot ultralites or (even lighter) Gotoh GB350s. All direct replacement, but use the original screws rather than the ones than come with the tuners.

Learned that the hard way replacing tuners on a Modulus. You do NOT want to break off a screw head in the carbon fiber headstock. No no no
Yeah those Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners are amazing.
As a ZON fan I HAD to put my hands and have my time with a the headless "Vinny"...I was lucky to find a recent wonderful VB5 and then I litterally had a VB4 falling on my lap, I could not let the opportunity getting away so here you go, NBD "Vinny" VB x2

The spalted on the 5 would be ideal (I don't play much 4 strings and I'd usually favor a standard P for those moments)

I had the exact same bass/finish, everything. I sold it through consignment at Bass Northwest in around 1996 or so (bought it in the spring of 95.
Has anyone pulled a Polyfusion preamp? The volume pot is really noisy and even cuts out. I've spayed Deoxit several times while moving the pot's knob to no avail. I'm thinking that I will need to get access to the back of the pot.
It looks like I may need to pull the mounting nuts on all three pots to remove the preamp. And it appears that the volume pot might be mounted directly to the preamp board.
