Yea I know you were kidding around Angus. Just thought I'd say it. Here are the specs!

Zon VB4 with black hardware and ramp. Two single coil pickups. No other options added

The 2nd (I'm so modest :) ) TJ headless 32'' scale 6 string. Ramp. Guanacoste body, Wenge Tone plate, myrtlewood top. And custom (though I suppose with this bass everything is custom) 18 mm spacing neck and bridge.

The guanacoste body is awesome. I love mine- it weighs 8.xx lbs even with the super heavy top, has a super neutral, clear, even tone, and records like a champ. Your TJ will kill with that setup.

I've been waiting to receive my other bass to place my 32" TJ order. Can't wait to see how yours comes out!

I have another question
Are the pickups on the Zon RTK true single coil and so susceptible to electro magnetic interference?
or are they noise cancelling single coil like pickups?

where I play has a lot of directional electro magnetic interference and I really don't like any extra noise/hum from a bass, so I got rid of a P/J that had a true single coil because of the hum.

there's a used RTK on e-bay in black for about $900 and I'm thinking that would be a nice complement to my natural Sonus Standard
if not that one, then another RTK somewhere down the line

I decided fo sell my 5/1 to help finance a Dingwall, so I brought it home from practice where it sat untouched for 2 years having been replaced by my Fender P5. Thought I would clean it up and put it up here at Talkbass. I recently bought a Markbass CMD 121H as a home practice rig and played the Zon through it plugged direct. I have been extremely impressed with the 121h and today the Zon blew me away. I am rethinking selling it, I forgot how solid the B is and how easy it is to move around the neck with the shallow U shaped profile and the TI flats. I wanted a Dingwall for the light weight, at 8 lbs 13.5 oz, the Zon is not a lightweight, but certainly not a heavyweight either. I certainly have to rethink selling it, especially since I've had it so long (for me), 12 years or so. Hmm....

I ended up buying the Zon RTK that was on e-Bay

Does anyone know how easy it would be to replace the Korean knock off pickups with the EMGs to upgrade.

I'd be looking at these under the impression that these are what was used in the USZ Zon RT

Good luck, have they delivered? I am waiting for a VB6 that was ordered 13 months ago. I was originally told it would take 9 months. It is supposed to have been completed except that they can't get Bart pickups due to change in Bartolini ownership. I remain hopeful and am holding off on putting my Status Graphite Stealth 6 up for sale.

No, I haven't gotten either yet :-) I've spoken to Joe multiple times and the lead time keeps getting extended, first due to NAMM, then some construction issues he spoke about quickly, then ostensibly because of the same issue your order faces: waiting on pickups. I know the likelihood of non-delivery is extremely low, but the extensions sure have cooled off my excitement. I've adjusted my expectations from "one more week until my basses come!" to "when they're ready, they're ready." Three more weeks and it's a year. I shouldn't complain. You've been waiting 13 months. There's a small jazz box guitar luthier here in NYC named Roger Borys. He operates a small shop and takes two years to deliver. That's the point in time I will consider the wait unbearable. Until then, I put it in the back of my mind and go about my business.

My fretted TJ5 is arriving at the Zon shop today to have the preamp reinstalled with a switch added and to have the fingerboard extension cut off so there will be room to slap. Martin said it should take just two days, so I'm hoping that stays true.

BluesWalker, definitely post pics of the VB6 when you get it. A 5 or 6-string Vinny that has the punch of the VB4 I had would be a dream bass for me.

My attitude has become the same. I look forward to receiving it but I am not making any plans around it.

I've been rocking this custom 32" scale, neck-through Vinny for a little over a year now, after the standard long wait due to NAMM delays/construction issues/Bartolini supply problems. To be fair, I was told they unexpectedly had to rework the entire body due to the combo of the shorter scale and the neck-through construction, so it accidentally became much more of a custom order than they anticipated.

I had hoped that Bartolini's epic delays were a thing of the past with the new ownership/management, but it appears not. When I worked for Zon years ago, that was the biggest PITA. A bass would be essentially ready to go, and then sit for weeks (if not more) while waiting for p'ups to arrive.
