Official Zon Club Part 5

The 14mm wouldn't go at all- I actually had to file down the rough edges on the front side of the tuning peg holes to get the 13.9mm bushings to go in (I checked and the 13.9s went in easily on the back side though- I guess that's the side they drilled on). I've had Hipshot Ultralites on most of my basses, so I figured I'd give the Res-o-lites a try as they are even lighter than the Ultralites. My fretted TJ5 doesn't need them, but I may install them just for the lighter weight.

so has anybody aside from Ed Friedland played any of these new Mosaic Mojo models?

anybody with an inside line to Zon know if they'll be expanding that line to 5 string versions.
It would seem likely given just about any model comes in a 4 and a 5 but all their Mosaic 5 strings are 35 inch
so what I'm asking is a for a future with a Zon offshore 34 inch 5 string PJ.

Now it gets messy.
I figured there'd be a 5 string version coming, but given current Mosaics 5 strings are 35 inch scale, it's likely to follow that pattern.
Unless the Mosaic Mojo is so different that it could be 34 inch. I'd be overjoyed.

Anybody take any measurements at NAMM of this alleged 5 string?
I feel the need for a Sonus Mojo P/J 34 inch scale.
It's all too much. I should just play. Let the bass come to me.

Did you miss the pics i posted?

Yes, there is now a Mosaic Mojo 5... it is indeed 35" scale with 19mm spacing.

However, the new Sonus Classic Standard import is 34" scale with a 24 fret neck and 17mm spacing.

There are two different animals to talk about...

Imports:

Sonus Classic 5 Standard: 34" Scale and 17mm Spacing
Mosaic Mojo 5: 35" Scale 19mm spacing

USA:

There are USA versions of the Sonus Classic and Mosaic basses... both of which can be had in 17 or 19mm spacing or in 34" or 35" scale... but you're paying for the composite or handmade USA neck and myriad custom options, as they're about 4 times more than the import versions.

What you would want to go with is up to you.

The Website:

Don't get me started... :rollno:

There was a website that was started by someone else before I started helping out with some design stuff... while that was getting off the ground, I started doing what I could to "fluff up" the old website and try to make it look and function better while the other site was built. Not sure if you remember what the site was like before I started trying to make it better... but, the few changes I have made have actually helped.

Anyway, it turns out that the platform that was being used for the new site under development had a lot of issues, and the whole thing had to be scrapped... it was a TON of work down the drain. Huge setback and a pretty depressing ordeal, but c'est la vie.

Fortunately, there is another all-new site in progress right now... and the goal is to get the thing launched by the end of the summer, come hell or high water.

In light of this, my duties to fluff up the old site have been put on semi-hold to focus on other pressing issues... so the current site remains in a state of flux, and I try to add and/or tighten it up whenever I can fit it in.

Trust me on this... the whole website issue has been roller coaster ride, but we hope to put it to bed very, very soon so we can start frying up some other tasty fish.

I have a Sonus Standard 5, 34 inch scale 17 mm spacing

doesn't look much like the 'new' import Sonus Clasic Standard -- has a lot more knobs for one thing
maple body with quilt top -- much closer to USA Sonus except Duncan pups vs Bart pups
and original price point about half of the USAm but not as low as the new models

final question
is that line being discontinued or supplanted by this new import Sonus model series?

just trying to figure out where I'm at with what I have.

LOL... It's being done by guys who have full-time jobs that aren't Zon related, families and weekend gigs with bands and stuff... so it takes a little longer than it probably should. :D

The Standards that you have are still going strong, except that they now have Aguilar pickups and there have been a few little tweaks made based on feedback we received.

Thanks so much for the clarification.
Mine looks like a 5 string version of the one on the lower left
Favorite of mine and my local guitar tech told me it's one of the nicest basses he's worked on and he's been doing this 30 years. Not bad for an import.
