i played nothing but modulus for years and sold them all off a few years ago due to getting fed up with their customer service. i recently played a show where another bassist let me play his zon for a while. i beleive it was a sonus and it was magical. now im intrigued. just curious if any of you zon experts happen to know which line has the smallest necks - i have smaller hands. ive already started putting some money away :) any advice on dealers would be great as well.

Wow almost the exact same situation with me but Modulus Customer service was AWESOME with me, on the ball with any issues and everything, I sold all my Modulus basses due to other reason's so now I play a Zon Legacy Elite VI and I haven't looked back, simply a work of art and the tone of my Zon is KILLER.

thanks man! initially i had great CS with Modulus. Tony at Planet Bass was also great to work with, but i had about 4 months of horrible CS and gave up. Then a month later they ended up going out of business. since then it looks like Planet Bass actually bought the name and are doing a smaller more manageable run of basses. id put money that the customer service is now back to being awesome.

You could just go thru a dealer (Link Removed) and put a deposit down on the specs you want because the build time right now is roughly about 15 months out last I heard and that way you would have time to pay it off and have a brand new instrument of your dreams and not to mention a WARRANTY!!!!

Neck specs are identical across models on the website... including the wood necked Mosaic and USA RT model.

4-string
Width at nut: 4-string: 1.532"

5-string
Width at nut: 1.875"

6-string
Width at nut: 2.125"

Width at 24th fret can vary due to string spacing.

Might be true on the website, but I have a P-width bass on order, own another, and have had a J-width four string (the width you listed above) in the past. I don't know when things consolidated, but if you look at the pictures on the website, there are clearly different widths in the pictures even (on the four string)! :)

It is definitely true on the website, as I copied and pasted the numbers directly from there. :)

A couple of different nut-widths have been and still are available as custom options, however, the measurements I gave are considered to be standard.

In other words, if you don't specify (as many, many people and dealers don't), that's what you get.

so oddly enough i found a dealer that was getting in pretty much what i wanted but only takes cash/check/money order. no paypal which is really the only route i go. more searching or may have to go the custom route through zon itself :)

I just took at Zon Fretted Todd Johnson 5 string in trade. It is quite the interesting instrument. The neck is DEAD straight and I don't think I have ever seen a bass play with action that low with literally no buzz anywhere. I have not had a ton of time to play with it, but I like what I am getting from it so far.

Congrats!

Yeah, I honestly don't get how they do it either... I simply cannot get my action on my other basses anywhere near where I can get it on my Zon basses... it's crazy.
