Official Zon Club Part 5

Fretless madness! :bassist:

My VB6 is finally done and was supposed to ship yesterday. I should have it next week. This will be my first Zon and hopefully my last ever bass purchase.

I will post pictures and a quick review once I receive it. I bought it having never played one through I once owned and gigged a lot with the 5-string Status Streamline all graphite bass. I like the small, lightweight basses and I liked the graphite neck Zons I have tried out in in music stores.

I second bobunit's question. Mine is a year and three months so far. I hope it comes soon.

I was told the bass was done on time, the initial delivery date was 9 months after the order, but there were issues getting the Bartolini PUPS. Bartolini is known for being slow but my order was further delayed due to a change in Bartolini ownership and relocation of the shop. The PUPS arrived at Zon last week and they completed the build yesterday. I am glad it is over and look forward to playing the bass next week.

Martin can give you the whole story, but my summary of what he told me is that Bill Bartolini sold the company last last year, the new owners implemented ways to increase productivity (and from my experience setting up and validating a new manufacturing process takes time) and the new owners moved the company to a new location. I guess the combination of those three events slowed things down for awhile. I think they are now back up to speed.
