I would imagine there is a guy, or 473, in Nashville that could do the mod for you. It doesn't have to be permanent, you (well, they :D) could easily swap the preamp back in if you don't care for the passive tone.

Both of my Zons are out at the shop. I found out it's possible to get a matching headstock added, a feature I always prefer, so I decided to go crazy. Unfortunately I'm without an instrument for 3-4 weeks :crying:

I don't blame you man. I abandoned my bass! I abandoned my boy!!! If my zons had heads they would be matching heads.

Those koa tops are so beautiful. Next zon, next zon. Please post pics once you get them back bryan

If I'm gonna pay someone to put a passive harness in, I might as well have em put in a new pre. Preferrably one that like the Sadowksy is very neutral when the boosts aren't on.

I generally play my basses in a dozen small sessions throughout the day- I keep walking towards the bass stand like an idiot and have to turn around :D

That's awesome that they offer that. I'm sure it's not cheap but IMO the capped headstock totally takes the bass over the top! Looking forward to seeing the completed pics!

I may eventually send my TJ5 back for some side dots but at the moment, sending it away from home would just make me too sad.:bawl:
I just love playing that bass every day! :bassist:

If you really like the Sadowsky preamp then you'd probably like the Aggie in the Zon. I've never cared for the paring of the Aggie with Bart pickups though. Too aggressive sound to my ears.
I suspect that a Pope Flex core would sound good in the Zon (and with the Bart p/u's). Or if you want a bit more tone coloring the East sounds really nice with the Bart p/u's. Both sounded really good with the Barts in my Roscoe basses.

Great Feedback thanks. Pope pre is compelling, but out of budget at the moment.

I've had a ton of basses with that one. Great pre, but not as "zingy" a sound as you'd usually expect from a Zon.
