Official Zon Club Part 5

I know you were digging the Darkglass... what are the diffs you're hearing?

I really did like the DarkGlass but ever since I've had the bass I've been thinking "what would the Bart pre sound like in this bass?"
There's not as much difference as I would have thought (tone wise). The Bart is a bit more easy to fine tune the Mwah that I like and quite honestly I've always really liked the slightly compressed tone that a Bart pre has. The Darkglass is really clear and open sounding to my ears and the Bart kind of naturally colors and compresses the tone but just the way I like to hear fretless. It's probably got a lot to do with the fact that every Fretless that I've had (prior to the Darkglass) has had the Bart preamp installed (other than one that had the Audere which didn't stay in it long). I also prefer the blend control over the V/V that the Darkglass pre had (although I suppose that I could have changed that to a blend and master volume).
At any rate, I really like the sound of the bass with the Bart installed (and the Darkglass has already been sold and shipped).
The Bart also has a nice A/P feature that actually sounds really nice too.

Beautiful bass!!!
Thanks. It's a long time dream come true. Never thought I could afford one. I gave up my #1 bass and more to get it. And even though I miss BB (that was my #1, short for Bottom B@*#h), I know that sometimes we gotta part with the one we may love and move on so we can go to bigger and better things. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: I have no regrets except that this bass makes me want more Zon's. :D Especially since I bought the Bergantino Forte this weekend. I highly recommend trying this amp and an Bergantino 12" with a Zon. It's what made me had to have this bass.

Just noticed that you're in Atlanta. I'm about 90 miles south of there. Do you do business with Jim at ABG? Great guy to deal with and a real fun shop to visit.
Congrats on the Zon. Beautiful bass.

Yep. I sure do. That's where I bought my Zon and Forte from. Actually... come to think of it, that's where all my gear is from. Down to the wires and straps. Jim is a great dude. We kick on multiple levels. Darren also. So was Keith. I say was because he's passed on :( (not sure if you knew).

Yeah. A buddy of mine (Roland) from the Atlanta area told me and said that he went to the funeral. I'm sure that Jim will miss him. I only met him back in May when I went up to purchase my Fender Pro. Jazz. Seemed like a really nice guy.

There is only ONE problem with Zon basses!

Once you get one you want another one!

WORD IS BORN! I'm definitely getting another one. Probably sooner than I'm willing to admit:roflmao:. Doing research now on exactly what I want. Hopefully I'll find something really close to it used. If not, I'll order it. I'm not too picky about the top woods and such. As long as it's beautiful, I'm on it.

That's what I've been reading. Mr. Joe said he's about a year out. I'm expecting at least a year and a half because of my luck :roflmao:. Like the old song says, "If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all". That's another reason why I'm cool with used. It's still new to me. :hyper:

He told me 7 months and mine was 3 years. :-) Luck's got nothing to do with it.
