I don't think it's really treating the fingerboard the way oil does with wood. It's just for cleaning. I think the phenowood is pretty much impregnable...

I think so too. I have never seen a pregnant phenowood fingerboard.
That frickin' made me laugh! On a serious tip:some knuckleheads will leave their basses in the sun, a hot car, a cold basement. From the Zon website:I think so too. I have never seen a pregnant phenowood fingerboard.
"Avoid exposure to extreme temperature changes. When bringing your bass inside from a cold environment, keep the case closed. Allow the instrument to acclimate by waiting until the case warms to room temperature before opening it. This will allow the instrument’s wood and finish to expand at the same rate, preventing the finish from shattering.
Likewise, do not leave your instrument in direct sunlight or in the trunk of a car on a hot day. Temperatures in a car trunk can exceed 212 degrees F (100 degrees C). Extended exposure to this condition can cause severe damage to the instrument. Cleaning the phenowood fingerboard on our composite necks can be done using a small drop of WD-40 on a cloth and working it into the surface."
I understand what your saying but I'm not talking about Phenowood I'm strictly talking about phenolic fingerboards, I've had numerous instruments where the phenolic shrank and the neck bowed, a couple of years ago I bought my very first Zon Legacy Elite VI and the fingerboard on this instrument is Phenowood and I haven't had any problems with it yet.
So the question is why does Phenolic shrink, I thought it was suppose to be impervious to weather conditions within reason.

I just realized I never posted both my basses with their new matching headstocks. I'll have to get some sound clips up of them soon as I don't think I've ever posted anything here.
PS: Apple's dictation function tried turning "headstocks" into "hat stacks." I can already foresee our entire species being destroyed when we tell our newly created AI "don't kill all humans" and they translate it to "donut kill all humans," prompting them to create city-sized donuts that they'll use to crush us all.

That's not cool. Moses makes fine toys, but they shouldn't be pawned off as Zon product. I have both - to say there is a distinct difference is an understatement.

The specs are based off of my old 1989 Legacy Elite 4 that I purchased new from Gelb Music.
Lightweight solid Poplar body with solid Ice Blue Metallic finish, black hardware, Bart soapbars and Polyfusion preamp.
Also have a couple of special requests, including stainless steel frets and blue Luminlay inlays.

I have Luminlays on my Martin Keith. They look cool. Unless the stage is brightly lit at least some of the time then they need to be "charged" with a bright light source, but a tiny LED flashlight is (or should be) provided for that. In dark conditions they won't make it through a full one-hour set without a recharge, but I usually have a opportunities to do that mid-set.
Zon content: I'm on the wait list too, ETA next year (order placed in June). I didn't think to order Luminlays, so I'll probably install a FretFX LED strip.

My red Sonus that I just got this year has a Bart TCT pre-amp in it, which is treble and bass boost only, but Joe also added a Bart mid module that is boost and cut, and when you pull up on the mid knob it changes the frequency between 500 and 250.
I find the boost only TCT is a really awesome sound. I like to set it with bass halfway and treble up 1/4. That pre-amp has a lot of history and they actually didn't even make it for awhile.
The newest version, the one I have, is actually called XTCT. I absolutely love the sound of it and super happy Joe offered it as an option!
I'm hoping some of you Zon Vets can help me.
I recently purchased a Sonus Custom with the soapbars and Bartolini 3 way preamp and I was wondering if any of you have tried D'adarrio Chromes and/or any flats? If so, what were the outcomes?

Wow. I find it hard to believe that no one has tried flats on their Zon.
