unfortunately yes, email can be pretty slow with their small and typically overloaded shop. calling is better, but that's a challenge for people like you who are most typically outside the US.

I have a 4 string Sonus Custom, and this is what I want to do as well. In regards to your ACG pre, do you mean you literally took it from stock and made a pedal out of it?

That's exactly what I did - I put an EQ02 into a pedal. It works great.
If I'm happy with the ACG onboard (EQ01) I'll put the pedal up for sale.

I wish I'd kept mine- I had an East/ACG filter preamp in my Sonus 5 for a while when I first got it. It was so intensely limiting with a single pickup bass than I swapped it out with a normal East pre and never looked back. It probably works better on a dual pickup bass though.

I could get like 2-3 really specific, unique tones with it but never could get the "ideal" tone I wanted.

The "single HPF stack" model (the EQ02) is somewhat limiting. I created a DIY pedalboard workaround by putting the filter (pedal) behind a blender (note that the blend needs to be able to phase-reverse) so I could blend the unfiltered tone with the filtered tone.
Anyway, with some luck I'll put the filter in the bass tomorrow.

My biggest concern is drilling out the holes for the stacked pots.

ACG in the Zon. No effects. I'm still getting to know the preamp, but I like what I'm getting so far. The "bass" track is neck p'up, "horn" track is bridge p'up.
If you think the sounds are sucky, please provide constructive suggestions.

Hi, same here. I have a `96 Sonus with exactly the same behaviour. It has two plain uncompensated Bartolini single coils and hums if you're not in "center" - which is expected behaviour, you can not fool physics. So, the other day I phoned Bartolini and the recommendation was: use X5 PUs (Invalid Link Removed).

I did not change PU's because I had a fear that it might ruin the spectacular sound of my old Zon. My solution: keep away from the amp.

My apologies for the late reply. I’d be interested in that pedal. Let me know should you want to sell it. I’ve been helping a Friend combine a few pedals (sansamp, Demeter comp, DIY overdrive) into one case.

I’ve really been getting into this with new designs and things of that nature, though not having a background in woodwork (my dad is brilliant at woodworking, painting, you name it, but - well that’s a whole other story), not to mention the whole gamut of tools necessary, I can only go so far, but it’s one of those rare “there really is something to this” moments that I think I should immerse myself in. Would be good if I knew where the best immersing takes place.... which sounds weird... anyone you know, so, yup.

Picked up Bryan Tyler's Zon the other week.
To be honest, I really didn't like the feel of the ramp under my fingers when I first played it but it's growing on me. Still need a lot more time with it. Definitely has a large range of tones!

I strung it E-C (which I prefer) and want to start exploring more chordal stuff. Chords sound amazing on this bass. The notes are just so clear. But this crowd already knows that. Think I might install a d-tuner for those rare times I want a low D. Also have my octave pedal.

Between this and my Fenders, I think I have the past and into the future covered.

I have a very special Zon coming soon. It's modeled after my 1989 Legacy Elite, but with a lot of custom options. It was supposed to be done by the start of the summer, but because the Zon factory relocated recently we are now shooting for the end of the summer delivery.

Was just wondering what other people are ordering from Joe these days? Any special custom basses or options?
