Oh my god, what the hell is Bootsy using?!

I know it's been posted before but I never saw anything in his list of effects that would do that synthy motorbike kinda sound.
It's not like there's a "synthy motorbike pedal" in his chain. His sound comes from a complex layering of multiple channels of processing. You have to look at the components in his setup as like individual modules of a synthesizer--individually they do nothing special, but in combination they can sound really interesting.

Beat me to it. This is always the problem with Bootsy questions. The man has an immense rig. And he doesn't go for a "one at a time, add a little color" approach with effects. No, it's three or more envelope filters running in parallel and working on different parts of his signal (highs, mids, lows). Add in some right hand and muting variations and you get a strange concoction of noises.

That's why he's Bootzilla.

Tri-amped, with a pile of stuff on all three channels. Piles of amps.Tri-amped. Just forget it. I hate to discourage someone, but, really,....no friggen way unless you're loaded and own a very large truck, and have a very large gig. Then, OK, but you're STILL not Bootsy.......so........:)... be yourself!

Bah, there are simpler ways of getting those tones. Gotta throw multiple effects at them, but you don't need a truck full of equipment to get it done. Bootsy does it because he can.
