OH NO first gig approaching rapidly!

relax and just own it.
remember, it is a matter of you displaying your craft instead of an audience judging what you are doing.
when jimi hendrix first started performing in the states, he would geek out onstage and ppl though he was weird. but then they realized that he was baring his soul, so everyone accepted eventually.

Good advice.
Just don't worry! Practice and then just go to the gig and feel good about yourself.
If you have a mindset of "I'm going to kick ass!" then you'll be more likely to...kick ass.
Have rehearsal and invite some folks whose approval would mean a lot. Other musicians, close friends. That might give you some confidence that you are on the right track. Other than that its just music, nobody dies. Many of the people watching wish they could play and think what you are doing is some kind of crazy voodoo magic. If there are others who do play, well they're not playing and you are. Enjoy the moment, you'll be bitten by the bug and want to do it all the time.
I am pretty nervous about my first gig, even though it is a three song set. I am most nervous about singing also on one song. Any tips?

The one thing I would keep in mind, especially since it's your first gig, is tempo. Your bound to have a pretty good adrenaline rush when you first get up there which can directly translate into much faster tempos than what is intended if your not careful.
Believe it or not, when (this may be before your time, excuse me if it is...) Rod Stewart got his first big break singing lead for The Jeff Beck Group, he actually hid behind the speaker stacks at Madison Square Garden! He turned out to be a dynamic showman, and a kick@$$ vocalist! Long story/short: practice-rehearse-execute. Always enjoy the moment. One day you will look back on this date and have a good laugh! Meh it really can't be that bad, ive seen bands that are crap and don't know it THAT is a lot worse.
I've done small shows at school, i treat it as nothing and just play it like a normal jam. Confidence is key buddy, if you mess up you mess up and you pick yourself up then blow there minds by recovering. Trust me the audience i'm guessing knows its a small band gig for a bunch of starting ones so even if you do its not the end of the world.
Albeit i still can't wait for my first club show that will be awesome, just need to find a decent band.

I kind of have the same thing. I havent been in a serious band in a few years and finally got together a few guys.Ive had trouble finding a singer so I stepped to the front and will sing lead and play bass. This next saturday we have a gig at my schools battle of the bands. Me and the guitar player go way back but we recently found the drummer. We have a few originals and a few covers , we have a 15 min set to fill. Im not to worried ....only about finding a name. We still cant think of a thing.

yep... don't try and cover up mistakes... thats one thing my music teacher have told me over and over... play it loud and play it proud
for the drummer dropping his sticks, but he got back on beat fast. He is a good drummer.
