oh yeah Geddy doing his thing again

This is certainly not a knock on Danny Carey - it could've been any other drummer - Portnoy, Mangini - anyone - but NOT seeing Neil, the only one who should be there, in his spot between Geddy and Alex, playing YYZ live left me sad and a bit lost feeling. I stopped watching shortly into it.

It was just a painful reminder of who is NOT there anymore and who we lost in Neil.

Great playing, good cause, and very deflating.

Never said they would...

Sorry that you're all upset with me for expressing that I wish one of my favorite drummers had not played a show celebrating the life of a drug addict. :roflmao:
He wasn't always a drug addict. People have struggles. But I see your point of view clearly enough. Like the negative one I have of Robert Trujillo for recording over Bob Daisley's bass parts. It's irrational, but I still have it.

I wouldn’t call that irrational. I completely agree with you. Trujillo has no limits to his values. Unprincipled. Who would do that?

My personal opinion, they shouldn't be out doing Rush stuff. They have solo stuff and other projects. I just think it's disrespecting Neil's memory. I know bands go on after people leave or die, but they've always said Rush is the 3 of them. I have little interest in any "new Rush" music. New projects, sure.

Yes my opinion is maybe closed minded, but it is my opinion.

The Who carried on after Keith Moon…but frankly, I think Zak Starkey is the only drummer that should be sitting on that throne because there’s a personal connection there.

I’d say Queen’s decision to carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters, is a bit more problematic in that they never really got a singer that was the “right” singer. In my opinion, that singer is none other than Roger Daltrey.

I mean, just watch and listen…

I have no problem with Rush carrying on, personally.

I watched an interview with Geddy where he talked about the end of Rush and the death of Neil. It was very clear that neither Geddy or Alex wants to tour again. They don't have the health for that lifestyle anymore. So, the tribute must have been something special for them to sign up. Alex has arthritis, so doesn't play through pain for something he doesn't care about.

If someone dies because of poor choices, it doesn't mean you don't love who they were.

I'm glad they did; I think John Entwistle's playing was at its peak with Starkey on drums (his hyper-processed tone, another story altogether. Nobody's perfect.)

I one hand I'm upset that D.C. would play a show to honor a junkie who OD'd, but on the other hand I can't shame a guy for getting to play the role of one of his idols (and f'n nailing YYZ) from Rush.

You seriously need to turn in your humanity card. Oh and watch out something heavy like a house is headed your way from above...
