OHMS?

The ohm is the SI derived unit of electrical resistance (derived from the ampere and the watt). Its symbol is the Greek capital letter omega (Ω). The ohm is named for Georg Ohm, a German physicist who discovered the relation between voltage and current, expressed in Ohm's Law.

Ohms is simply a measure of the electrical resistance of a material equal to the resistance of a circuit in which the potential difference of 1 volt produces a current of 1 ampere.

an ohm is a measure of resistance, your amp has a minimum ohm load rating, so say it is 4 ohms, which is common. that means that you cannot plug that amp into any cab that is less than 4 ohms. its ok to go up, like to plug into an 8 ohm cab, but you cant go down, to say a 2 ohm cab. the current draw on your amp increases as your decrease the ohm load, or resistance.
further, say you have 2 speakers, they are both 8 ohm, if you wire them series they become 16 ohm, if you wire parallel, they become 4 ohm. if wired series/parallel, they remain the same,
if you do a google search you can research this whole thing in depth.
but that is the general idea,
research ohm's law, main thing to remember, dont run your amp into something that has a lower ohm rating than your amp can handle. its ok to go up, but not down. with tube amps its a whole different story, you are just going to have to read on that.

if you have two 8 ohm cabinets plugged into the same amp, then the amp sees a 4 ohm load, you follow..?
some amps will handle a 2 ohm load, which means you could run 2, 4 ohm cabs.
