Ok for reals: who makes the best six string bass??

I'm taking the plunge. I like f bass but the 19mm spacing is a bit of a turn off for chords. Carl Thompson 6 is a to hard to play modern but I love the sound. The low end/ benivente just didn't sit right .so far the one that I liked the most was a....... GASP schector diamond 6 with emgs. Not perfect but it was consistent albeit a little cheaply made. Okay so suggestions thoughts? Only fodera is out of the price range.

If somebody made the best six string bass why would anybody bother to compete? There is no best anything, only the best for you, which means the one you prefer the most. So I guess the answer is Schecter...

Just a quick reminder TB's please refrain from insightful, intellectual or thought provoking answers of any kind. This thread is for opinions ONLY :-)

For reals though I am leaning towards a schecter. I had just hoped that a more exciting answer exists

I have two 6-string basses, both of those are customs with much narrower spacing than 19mm (14mm, which is great for chords). You don't have to go that narrow, but you might want to think about getting a custom 6 to suit your needs.

14!!? If I had 14 spacing they could sell me a five, tell me it was a six and I wouldn't know different until somebody pointed it out to me ;)

Who makes them? Pics? Length? electronics?

Here they are, both are 34" with passive electronics. The purple one is a fretless that I just had made for me by Michael Dolan. It uses a Kahler 7460 bridge to get the string spacing to 14mm. The brown bass was made by a Luthier in MN in 1997 who is now retired, it uses standard single string bridges for a string spacing of 13.6mm. I'm sure any decent luthier would be able to customize a 6-string for you however you like.

The string spacing is no problem for me as I am used to playing classical guitar. I don't use a pick, I only use my fingers. I can even slap and pop with this string spacing although I never do much of that style.
