Ok time for a 5 string =)

Hey guys its been a while since ive posted on this board.
Anyways, im going to get my first five string in a month or so.
My budget is around 300-400 CAD. This is my first 5 string so theres i dont feel the need to go higher.
these are my choices:

1.Brice HXB 405
2.Peavey Millenium 5 BXP
3. I dont know what would you guys recomend around my price range?

So between these two basses
1. Which one would you get. and WHy
2. Which one would be better suited for rock/metal?
3. What are the pros and cons for each.

THeres no need to answer all these questions haha.

BTW right now i have my eye on the Brice because it looks great, but there were only 2 reviews on H-C, so i dont know.

THanks in advance.

Ps. if anyone has close up shots of the Brice do you think you could Post them? :hyper:

EDIT: alos if i were to buy something used what should i look for?

I got a sweet Ibanez SR305. I guess it retails for around 4 or 5 hundred now. But I got a sweet deal on it used. It's light, fast, easy to play, sounds good. B string is good. Really skinny neck. Good sound for rock and metal. I use it for that.

I was going to recommend that bass as well. It was my first five string and lately I have been wanting it back. Great bass, great sound and superb construction.

What about this gorgeous little SX? Only $170 plus shipping! You can use the rest of your budget to upgrade the pickups and hardware.

my favorite cheap 5 strings have been the Squier P Bass Special V and the OLP MM3. tight B strings and either the wide spacing on the Squier or narrower on the OLP. The OLP could stand a bridge upgrade though if you don't mind not having that "MM" shaped bridge. Schaller 496 is a nice meaty bridge with 17mm spacing.
Squier has a weaker output on the B, but nothing too detrimental.

Hey do you think aN SR205 would be any good? or no?

ANd that peavey Milenium BXP... Would that be better suited for metal/rock than the Brice and 305?

will this answer your question....the Bass Player for lamb of God uses Mileniums, he says they're great (there is a video on youtube, maybe it'll help)

I had the Squire P bass Special in a 4, in the walnut finish ... was a very nice guitar ... but I bought this one used with a Dimarzio upgrade, and did not care for them, so I sold it ... build (fit and finish) was very good, but I cannot comment on original pups, as they were gone ...

Brice - 1
Peavey - 2

Yeah maybe ill get the peavey because it will be cheaper and i can get it from a local shop.i could get the price to 267 or cheaper. PLus Tax.

THe only thing is that the Brice can go passive or active.
