Yeah, I know it's a six year old thread, but some of the links had intriguing details on the history a d development of this underrated bass.
My own personal conjecture on the Ripper- Around the time it came out Guitar Player magazine had an interview with Jack Bruce and they asked if he'd ever pursued getting a custom made bas. He said he had been working with a company on one but didn't want to say anything else because "... it's on the market, or a very inferior version of it."
Gibson, two pickups, rotary switching, electronics by Dan Armstrng who worked with
Jack and put the diode clipping circuit in the EB-3...
