old band lost my guitar. advice?

At the time was a month after I had left for school and stopped smoking.

I started this thread to see what you guys would do in the event your own gear was stolen and to ask for advice. Not to have my own personal affairs critiqued and my personal morale belittled.

The fact that this thread has been going for a solid 4 months, with plenty of instances of you, the OP, chiming in, speaks to the contrary.

If you didn't care about the guitar in the first place...

A) Why did you start and continuously update this thread, especially with people giving you a hard time later on about your complete lack of action?

B) Why did you "starve yourself" (your words, can't be bothered to go find the post) for a few weeks to get a NEW guitar? Was that true, or was it just a lie to gain sympathy from the people in the thread?

C) Why did you bother getting a new guitar in the first place if the old one was just "taking up space"? Seems like the guy did you a favor in that case.

Bottom line, either you are lying to us about some or all of this, or there's more to the story than what has been revealed that makes it all make sense. Because right now, the only obvious explanation is that you couldn't fight a fly in a newspaper factory if it stole your girlfriend and took your life savings.

Conflict is part of life. No no, conflict IS life. If you avoid it to this degree, you are already dead. Not to mention the old saying, "all it takes for evil to exist is for good men to do nothing". By not confronting this guy in a productive way, you are letting him continue to turn other innocent people into victims. Oh, but he's "going to jail" you say (which remains to be seen). But even if he does, HE GOT AWAY WITH IT FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS, which is going to make him a lot more confident about doing it again when he "gets out". And if he doesn't get convicted for anything, he's going to feel like superman and like he's invincible and can never be caught, and then he really won't stop unless he is (probably by someone he crosses in the future that actually has a pair of balls actually taking action).

And predictably, after I say to take some time for self reflection, you just defend everything you (haven't) done.

I now take solace in the thief finally learning a lesson, and take away my lessons from this. The first being that the cops actually do give a crap.

Nahh, not getting the guitar back. I've resigned to that. Not getting my money for it either. Also resigned to that. But I can still hope he gets jail time!

And the fed ex truck already came today with a new bass. No need to worry about any UPS truck.
