Old Fender. Worth Anything?

Its probably not a fender, but it is still a bass. If it is playable and sounds decent it is likely worth from $100-$150.

$100 would be a decent offer.

You can get a new SX for about $100.

Why would you want a beat up old bass pretending to be a fender, with a bunch of mismatched pickups, likely of unknown quality and condition.

I'd say $20 is more reasonable.

The parts themseleves are probably easily worth $100 on ebay. $100 is a pretty fair offer (unless it is impossible to play.) SX is not a fair comparison for price. Though SXs are good basses the only thing that they share in common is that they are both based on a Fender and they are both basses.

But this one is of dubious origin.....It may not be, and the consensus here is that it's probably not, an actual Fender.

I doubt if most if any of the parts are actually fender or worth anything much.

If you could try it first, and see what kind of condition everything's in perhaps.

To me it just seems like you're choosing between:

1. New, cheap, but okay bass.
2. Old, cheap, and maybe okay bass.

If it has one genuine '73 Fender part on it, it's worth more than $50.

But does it.

It's possible it's a real one someone has changed the neck or something, but it's equally as likely that it's just a knockoff which someone has stuck a fender decal on.

To me it doesn't matter. It's just an old beat up bass.

Hell if it is not a fake neckplate that by itself is worth over $100. The tuners are worth $50 even if they are old, and that is even is they aren't fender. The pickups you could easily get $25-$50 out of even if they are no name. You could easily sell the body or neck (take off the decal) for $50 apiece or more, and that is pretty conservative. $20 for the bridge etc etc.

$100 is a fair deal and if you dont like it you can part is out and make a profit.
