On a John Taylor kick lately

It started during the pandemic when he was putting on videos from home about how he came up with bass lines and how they changed as they write the songs. Killer stuff!

then on the radio a few weeks ago The power Station “Some Like it Hot” came on. Sent me into a deeper hole of finding anything he’s played on. The Power Station rips and really lets John and Andy Taylor unleash. Also Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson are amazing as well.

JT is the reason I became a bass player in 1984. Probably still my all time favorite bassist if I had to choose. Certainly the most influential on my playing.

Just watched “The Sound of 007” last night, a great documentary about James Bond movie music, and Simon and John were on it. John is still looking great after all these years (Simon not so much) and I caught glimpses of a Kubicki and an Aria Pro II.
