nice experience in the NYC subway this morning. I know, right !?!
I see these 2 old people in the main hallway walking around in circles, looking on the ground. Obviously, they lost something. Didn't think too much about it. Walk another 20 yds or so, and what do i see on the ground ? A gold earring with a pearl hanging from it. Scooped that bad boy up and ran back to where the old folks were. I looked at the lady and asked her if she dropped this(the earring). The smile on ...her face made my whole day. I wished her well and went on to my train platform. About 3 minutes later I feel a tug & someone hugging on my arm. It was the old lady, she was waiting for the same train. She told me that she didn't get a chance to properly thank me, and then she told me the story of where the earrings came from.....and how heart broken she was when she realized one was gone.
I'm not usually mushy, but this has really made my day. She reminded me so much of my mom, rest her soul. The chance to preserve a memory for a sweet old lady, and then to see the smile on her face. It just doesn't get any better than that. I'm so glad I happened to be there, at that moment. A chance to make a difference ? It's been a good day already.
