I'm very sorry, I meant to type nordstrand. Suffering from brand overload and coffee shortage. I have the 3 band nordy in the bass in my avatar. Very versatile pre. Love it.I checked Barts website and their mids were all fixed freqs ?

Not sure how people have hooked up an EMG system to other pickups. I know there are a bunch of threads on here about it, though. I remember one guy put a system in his Peavey, connected to the VFL pickups....
With Audere, I wouldn't get the Z switch either. People have said it's not worth the extra money, but that's just what I've read. I know I wouldn't need it.
I'd go Mike Pope or East. Being that you are in the UK. East would probably be a slam dunk. I love my uni-pre. Almost too many tweakable options.
Popes are well expensive so maybe not.
The Nords are again, fixed freqs, but you can determine which freqs you desire.
So far, the Audere Classic is looking on top.
Did you decide you didn't need a midsweep? Because AFAIK it isn't an option for the Pope, Audere or Nordstrand. The Audere has high and low mid controls plus the Z switch and the Pope has high & low mid controls that can both have frequency selectors but none of them actually have sweepable mids.
If that's a must have then I think John East is your best bet. His preamps have been the only ones with sweepable mids that I've really liked. Much more do than than Noll.

I'm not sure i fully iunderstand. Is the low mid 250hz freq just the peak, and it sweeps either side, or is it fixed at 250 ? If its fixed at 250hz, how can this be wide bandwidth , as they state ? I may be misunderstanding the nature of how electronics work
PS same question about the high mid too
Mid-range controls use wide bandwidths - the issue with narrow bandwidths is the phase shift changes too fast vs. frequency and they sound artificial while our wide frequency mid-range controls is more musical.
4 Band
1st Mid Peak Hz - dB 250 +/- 10 dB 500 +/- 10 dB
2nd Mid Peak Hz - dB 750 +/- 10 dB
The 3 band mid range frequency switch moves the frequency of the Mid range control to 250, 500 or 850 Hz.
