One bass a year

No sooner had I finished my first scratch build than NoTreble named it their ‘Bass of the Week’. Wow! Thank you! I see this as an incentive and a mandate to keep going.

However, to keep expectations low, I'm going to take things slowly - so one bass a year. I already have an idea for the next one. Stay tuned.

How does it work?

Looks like a string extender, like you see on some uprights. When engaged, it uses the zero fret. When not, you have the extra frets below E.

Wow, that is cool. Kind of a retro-futurist Jetson's vibe. If that is indeed your first build, I am properly humbled. I aspire.... and repeatedly fail... to build one bass per year. Mine are hostage to the whims of work and family, more like one bass every 2-3 years. The first one took me 4 years all told, the next three, the last one a little over two, so at least it's trending downward! I must have missed the original build thread, got a link?

I was going to ask if you planned to submit to "BOTW". I'll confess at first I wasn't crazy about the design, but the top-notch execution really sells it!
Any videos and/or demos planned?

There is already one thing to report. I have ordered new circuit boards for the pickup system.

But I still don't know which shape of body I should choose.

Either something totally different, since you seem to be exploring different shapes, (with similarities at the neck end of the body) or not if you happen to like one that you've tried a lot. I love the project, I'm not particularly excited about either body shape, (but that's just me, not anything you need to care about if you like them) but the black one looks like it follows a complete design aesthetic and the green one looks like it's a "conventional" bridge-end stuck to a "different" neck-end - to me.

Now, if it turns out the black one is painful to play due to being hard-edged, and the green one is comfy due to being rounded and contoured, that would be a data point, and might suggest rounding and contouring the black one's overall shape to see how that works out. But if the subtle front countrouring (had to go look at pictures in the other thread to see it well) and back rounding leave it comfortable as is, go with that if you like it as is.
