One pickup in 'sweet spot'?

What pickup would you suggest? Series/parallel/single coil switches would be added. I would be going for modern punchy tone on six-string graphite-neck instrument, mostly finger-style and chordal playing.

In six-string version there is no DS.
I'd go for multicoil pickup. I guess you are from Finland? Pm if you like to know more about multicoils. I'm making them.

Music Man Stingray location and design.

I think the location is the bigger part. I have a Westone Rail with the sliding pickup. It's passive and has about as much in common with a Music Man as a popsicle, yet when I slide the pickup to 'that' spot, it does an extremely good impression of one (of a stingray, not a popsicle).

Not widely known fact: we use polar bear teeth for picks in Finland.
