One racist remark?

I would never quit a band because of something like that. In my opinion you overreacted. I guess (some of) you Americans are more nervous about this.

Well, I know that in Sweden there exists strong race hatred of the Sami culture by some Swedes..to the extent that state forced sterilizations of Sami's were common until fairly recently. What's happening in Norway..you guys just accept racism activley, never think about it? You have nerves of cold steel, it sounds like, from what you are saying here. Please, kindly elaborate on your post so that we can understand your reasoning.

Btw have you ever read Mein Kampf? It's actually a pretty good book.

For justifying fascist ideologies and the subjugation and extermination of 'untermenchen'? Yeah, it's tops. :sour:

My take, OP? You have to do what is right for yourself, and you did. Bigots and racists don't repair their own internal damage without extreme cause. All of this left/right/democrat/republican/FOX/CNN sideshow in this thread is irrelevant to the broader implications of casual racism - the kind that teaches young minds to hate and old minds to stay closed.

Yes, I have. No, it isn't.

Might we move back ON topic? If you want to discuss national socialism and/or its literature, this is probably not the right thread, IMHO.

I opened this thread because I had the experience of wanting to quit a band due the use of the "N-word" as a descriptor for President Barak Obama. I did not pitch a fit or rage quit when it happened. Getting the BL to help was not going to happen.

What I did was to think a lot about the band, the other members, by responsibilities and my values. There was no way to make it OK other than leave. I am not happy I had to quit—which was somewhat emotional, but I felt I had no choice. I was not willing to be in a band with a member who uses hate speech—for any reason or in any context.

What a bunch of politically correct garbage.. What the guy said about obama was wrong, and I don't condone it, but common..lol What an overly sensative bunch of wussies we have in this country..

Am I an overly sensitive wuss, or do I have respect for the old black bluesmen I have worked with in the past?

Am I sensitive, or do I have love and respect for all my great nieces and nephews, all of which are half black?

Clue me in please.

I've lived here 12 years. Chicago certainly has its racial issues, but no, not "everyone" here is a racist--in fact, I don't personally know anyone who is.
